That’s scary. A big part of the chaos on the roads is people who couldn’t drive a sharpened stick into a pile of soft dog #### teaching their kids to drive.

From tying their shoes for them to tying my grandkids shoes happened in an instant. It’s still freaking me out, some of my grandkids are almost teenagers already.

The day I got my license, mom let me drive the car home. Was on i-10 in Phoenix and went to change lanes to my left, and some dip #### came speeding into my lane at the same time about 80mph and I over corrected to keep from hitting them and put the car into full fishtail! Held on the wheel as tight and straight as I could and let off the gas, it straightened out and kept from wrecking. Mom was holding on for dear life ! Gave her a heart attack for sure...

Just a good story to ease your nerves with your own son :biggrin_25523:

I remember that day like it was yesterday. Mom picked up from school to take my test and then went back to football practice. On the ride home it was more like slow down, slow down Lol. That was September so I had til March before my actual road test. From there on I pretty much drove everywhere. One morning on the way to the bus stop my road had a fresh coating of snow and there's this 90 degree turn downhill....it got away from me and the only victim was a mailbox. The back tire hit it and bent it a bit. Thought for sure the car was gonna have a dent, tire took the hit.

Since I'm a September birthday I had my permit before all my friends. My friends dad liked to drink a lot and that was the place we all hung out at every weekend....Brett you feel like driving? hell yeah you don't have ask me 2x

I live in a golf course community. See lots of golf carts being driven by 8 yr olds with grandpa sitting on passenger side with big grin on his face. Would laugh hard if the kid floor-boarded it into a pond !

Yep one of the reasons why new drivers should not be allowed on the Freeways, unless they know how to conduct a safe lane change in high speed traffic.

Years ago I let my 16 yr old nephew, who had a permit drive. He was going down the on ramp for I 20 almost the merge and what did he do? Instead of looking in the mirror to see if he was clear, he started messing with the radio. I asked him if that's the way they taught him in driver training in school. He said that they didn't let them drive on the freeway. WTF. Weatherford tx high school

I can't recall any highway driving either.

I've seen student drivers but I don't think they're any school. More like those private classes.
