    My Garmin goes into parking mode automatically. Takes a few minutes to decide the truck is parked. I use only the usb plug. It’s to an outlet that doesn’t shut off with the engine.

    I had a 4 camera system installed in 2008. One camera on the dash, 1 camera on the right side of the vehicle facing backwards, and two cameras on the drivers side of the truck one facing forward, the other facing backwards (side swipe cameras) I was "involved" in a 5 car pile up in Chicago rush hour on the main interstate. A young man from DC was in the hammer lane distracted I believe he was texting at the time because he piled into the car in front of him, and that car pushed into the one in front of him. All this happened beside my truck and trailer. I was involved because the front of a limo went under my trailer and came back out, damaging the hood. Needless to say the young driver at fault tried playing dumb like "What happened" as he ended up in the middle of all the cars. When he found out I had cameras all around the truck he blurted out loud "I wish there was no cameras" And I LAUPHED HARD in his face. He was going to put it all on me, the big truck. Anyway, Illinois State police officer watched my multi camera video 3 times in a row, gave the 1 young man a citation $75 for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. There was no brake use I told the cop. The cop gave me written exoneration roadside, it felt awesome.

    That's a great story. What exactly is a "written exoneration"? I don't think I've ever seen one of those from a LEO.
    Also, in one of your other threads somebody asked what the Dr stood for and if you're a Dr, what kind. Let us know, okay?

    Thanks REO6205. I will answer your question but before I do I need to point something out. Had I not had those cameras on my truck to prove I was in my lane the whole time of the 5 car pile up I would have been absolutely gutted with a Chicago style lawsuit the size of Manhattan you know what I'm talking about with that.

    Now to answer your question, written roadside exoneration is a term I used to describe this document. It is a very rare document, how many trucks involved in a 5 car pile up get a paper that states the nature of the accident and that the driver of the commercial vehicle is NOT AT FAULT. Hence, written roadside exoneration. Usually there is an investigation and pending court case to prove innocence. In this case, I walked away with a peiece of paper that proved my innocence from the State Police. Make sure you got your cameras working!!

    I already answered the Dr question in a previous reply. But I will answer it again. When I became an owner operator in 2008 I registered the name DrBigRig as I one day plan to produce a case study of my experience and build a community around that along with a way to provide value to the community and monetize. The community has not been built yet. I have a small group on fb with mostly friends who I personally met. The proverbial PhD in truck driving.

    So many people outside of truck driving look down upon truck drivers. It is my life mission to bring to the forefront that there are a lot of smart people in this industry worthy of respect.

    That's a fine ambition but I don't think you should be claiming a title you have no right to.

    Why would you say I have no right to a name? I do not violate any copyright laws. Its a name. A call sign, I don't understand. I don't claim to know it all.

    @DrBigRig
    I for one, would like to know what camera system you have installed and any issues whether it was installation issues or performance issues (the cameras). Would you please enlighten the ignorant ones like me please.
