CB radio newbie

    Most of my experience with CB's has been in trucks that already had good CB setups. I just got into a 2018 Cascadia Evolution (not new Cascadia) that came with a janky setup. I'm working on changing that. Just ordered a peaked Texas Ranger TRE292 and external speaker from Wolcott Radio that I'll install this weekend.

    What I need with help next is the antenna. Do I go 1 or 2 antenna route? Where to install? Mirrors or rear of cab or roof? How do I route the coax cables to these locations?

    I've searched endlessly and I keep coming up with solutions for other trucks and being new to actually choosing/installing CB parts I just don't know where to begin.

    Btw, the truck is a midroof sleeper with the top fairing removed. So there is already holes where the brackets were that held the fairing on. Curious if these could be utilized to mount the antenna(s)?

    Buy a radio properly tunes and aligned, the radio isn’t important- the antenna is so one antenna, read about bonding and grounds in a crapcadia.

    Ridgeline is right. There are lengthy threads already here on Cascadia antenna mounting. They have to be one of the worst for antenna issues. If you hook your nice new radio up to a poor antenna system you can wind up damaging the radio. Another consideration is what are the power requirements for the radio? Will the factory harness provide the needed power? Radios with increased power will generate more heat, does your mounting position allow for a little air circulation? Good luck with your installation.
