When I was in 4-H and even after that, I never helped load the sale animals. I couldn’t handle watching those heart broken kids balling their eyes out while watching their animals go away forever. I am also an A Hole that turns into a mushy mess given the circumstances.

Whatever the noise, it’s probably minor. If major, it would have probably blown by now. You should post it running. Maybe someone can recognize the sound.

My new truck has made life so much easier. I hated having to bring truck home and get it worked on seemed like every other time I went out.The first year was real bad and ended up rebuilding the motor. Now I have a larger payment but I know what it is every month vs paying 10K one month and 1K for payment the next month. In the end it is cheaper to run new for me.

I can probably find the noise. I tightened stuff up but didn’t look too hard as I was disgusted. The vibration is my concern. It hasn’t got better or worse.

I’m tempted to do the same. Local gigs paying $24-$28 hr.

I will admit, I got forced out of it. Truck went in for an inframe, that took 4 months on an ISX. Got it back and was doing well, then the head gasket cracked and a seal on the liner didn’t seal up. That was another 4 months. One guy shop, he did some work that left some parts in Mexico, so my hands were tied. The truck was only on the road for 6 months between the shop time.

Took a job with a company I was hauling for and I’m on the road just as much, but no longer driving. I still have the truck and trailer, just figuring out if it’s worth hiring a driver.

I must admit, if I did this over it would be a newer truck. Being I quit jobs every 6 months my entire life, I have driven a large amount of different trucks. New and old. Some ratty oilfield trucks. The quietness, handling ( in my opinion) and comfort are waaaaaay better in newer trucks. I really liked every Cascadia I drove. Never had the issues we read here so often. And you couldn’t beat the fuel mileage.

Emissions on newer trucks…… I have theories on those and won’t discuss them since I don’t want a debate. It’s a crapshoot either way regardless of truck.

I got to experience a half way done restoration. Learned a lot. My confidence level has been elevated. However, as much as I wanted to be an old iron guy……..I’m just not. I’ll leave that to the professionals lol.

I’m still around, just don’t have a whole lot to add since I’m not trucking. It’s still frustrating to think about because I see it as a failure. I had the reserves for one rebuilt, just not two. I’ve been told I’m too hard on myself though.

I appreciate you reaching out, I will check in on the other thread.

Haven’t hauled a load in over 3 years because of the wife’s health…..

Still got truck and active numbers…. Just not ready to give it up. If wife gets better I’ll hit the ground running. If she doesn’t, we’ll we shall see.

I have been thinking about buying a 5th wheel toy hauler and redo the registration as a rv and hit all the motox places I’ve only reed about for some riding…..
