Get a copy of your Motor Vehicle Record. To see what the DUI event is recorded as on your MVR. Google Georgia MVR. My state charged me $10 for a 10-year MVR.
In general I think DUI is a huge deal. Companies have differing hiring standards. Even if you shot a Senator and have hijacked a school bus SOME COMPANY may hire you, but you probably would never want to work for them. They know you have no place else to go and they may "forget" to pay what you expected or treat you like you can't leave. He might need to wait 3-5 years to get hired. It depends on what is recorded on your MVR. Canada, BTW, I think treats a US DUI as a Felony. Which often means a DUI will bar you from Canada. TONS of US companies don't go to Canada, so that issue is just an asterisk, not very important right now. Depending on his MVR just remember there may be a Canada issue.

We got a copy of his record an hour ago and they decreased it to “failure to exercise due care” for the both of them.

That said, failure to exercise care isn't a misdemeanor. It's a traffic offense, but not a criminal offense as DUI would have been.tscottme Thanks this. -
One thing I would do is go on the county court house website and search his public records and see whats there. That way you've covered all the bases.

Drunk on a bike shows a real lack of... a whole lot of thinking skills.Boondock, Magoo1968, Bean Jr. and 1 other person Thank this. -
This was asked by someone who wanted to work for me, he had two DWIs and had them “reduced” to reckless and careless driving. So I wrote a quick email to the underwriters and they said I could hire him with the DWIs after 2 years of clean driving but the careless was 3 year wait and the reckless is a 5 year both would count longer if the driver got another ticket for any moving violation within that 5 years.

in this country you get as much justice as you can afford
Need the name of that lawyer cause he’s good !
He has something on a judge to get two DUIs in 10 weeks reduced to nothing .
anyone who gets two DUIs in three months should be in jail .
as long as some states punish people more for hunting out of season or spotlighting deer than they do for DUI,
Alcoholics will never stop driving drunk.
your husband needs a alcohol and drug addiction treatment program, clearly he is an alcoholic and not a very smart one at that .
Uber is a lot cheaper than a dui arrest and lawyer .
im guessing the lawyer was near $10k ?
id say right off that truck driving is not the career for someone who can’t not drive when they are drunk.
If he gets hired as a driver and gets into an accident , will the other persons lawyer be able to find his two dui arrests using any and every subscription search engine available ?
If they do, the jury will just hand a check to the victims in the millions .
If a company enters his name in one of the criminal search databases , does his mugshot show up listing the reason for the arrest ?
The company I work for pays an investigation company to dig for anything on the internet involving the applicants name .
the actual charge may have been reduced , but the origional arrest is Probabaly still online showing the reason for the arrest .
That said , I also know of a guy that got a dui and got it reduced and was able to get a CDL and a driving job with a good company , So it’s possible .
a few years ago I was at a meeting and the sign in clipboard stopped in front of me since I was the last to arrive
when the meeting got really boring I started using the investigating search engine and just entering the names on the clipboard , of the 16 people , two had been arrested , one of them for felony theft over $5,000 .Bean Jr. and Val_Caldera Thank this. -
Entering Canada with a DUI or DWI criminal conviction
Even if you are told that you are inadmissible to Canada, there is a solution. If you need to enter Canada but have a criminal conviction, you have to apply for a Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) in order to enter the country. You can apply for a TRP at the point of entry (land or sea border, or airport customs), or you can also apply by submitting your application to the Canadian consulate in your country of residence.
Note: As of June 21, 2018, “deemed rehabilitation” is no longer available to those entering Canada with DUI/DWI convictions. This is due to a change in the Criminal Code; driving under the influence is now considered “serious criminality.”
A TRP is a temporary document and you have to apply for a new one every time you enter Canada. However, you may also be able to apply for criminal rehabilitation, which is a permanent solution to being denied entry to Canada. If you become rehabilitated, you will never need to apply for another TRP to enter Canada even if you have been convicted of a DUI or DWI in the past.
The cost of a TRP is $200 for the government application fee, and the cost for a criminal rehabilitation application will now be $1000 for the government application fee. If you hire an immigration professional such as a consultant or lawyer to help with your application, they will charge you legal fees in addition to the government application fees.

You see, even juvenile charges are there, as it doesn't list dispositions, only date of arrest and charge entered for arrest. Every arrest will have a listing, as his fingerprints will match the record. In his case, both will be listed as "Suspicion of DUI," "OWI" "Wet Reckless," etc. That's all the lawyer will need to get a verdict in the millions of dollars and all that would be required to put a small- to medium- sized trucking company out of business. All it takes is a decent to good lawyer who will subpoena his fingerprints and subsequently his arrest record.Bean Jr. Thanks this.
