    Okay, I truly appreciate y’all’s help with my 1000 questions.

    here is one more… trailer legnths…

    I’ve found a nice Travis spread axle that is in nice shape. Has front axle lift, brakes and tires are great, not all beat up but it is 37’ vs 39’

    how much is that going to affect me there? Like I said I’ll more than likely be hauling aggregates as I live fairly close to Bridgeport I just want the flexibility to haul other stuff if I need. I doubt I haul hard scrape stuff as I have delivered flatbed stuff to recycling places and that is a beat down lol.

    Can I not scale good legal loads with a 37’ vs a 39’?

    Also, I have found a 39’ spread axle Travis I can rent month to month if I wish. I am really thinking of renting it for a month or two while I shop and see if it is the thing for me. It is $1100 which seems to be the going rate in Texas for an aluminum 35’ + trailer. I may think diving into this is the worst idea ever once I start into it and then have a trailer to sell. Lolol… but I really think I’ll like it. I’m pretty methodical and research the hell out of stuff before I dive in so this isn’t a fly by night decision.

    I don’t think renting a trailer to make sure you like the job while you shop around is a terrible idea. In my 5 years of end dumping I’ve trained 3 people who’s first and last day was the same. 2 of them went back to the yard after the first unload, they see the trailer standing up and say “f this”. Which there’s no shame in that, it’s not for everyone.

    If you’re pretty certain you’re going to just be hauling aggregates, 2 foot of lost space is nothing. Where I’m at now my trailer is a 28’ and I haul 27 ton all day long, with room to spare.

    One thing I’ll say, if you feel pretty confident in a steady customer base for aggregates, such as ready mix facilities, a frameless is the way to go, much lighter set up, and albeit scary, dumping at steady customers in good conditions is pretty simple. I think I can speak for @motocross25 and myself that through the years we’ve been in some pretty sketchy situations, it’s not rare for me to dump in driveways, total crap hole feed bins at a dairy, a heckacious steel mill, farmers fields, orange groves, the list goes on. What I do and the places I go is where you really need to respect a frameless that much more, not discounting guys that pull a frameless in and out of ready mix facilities all day, but the difference between a lot of what I do, and places like that, really is night and day.

    I can see that for sure. If I equate it to the flatbed world, hauling shingles… not that bad stuff can’t happen but the securement is straight forward, if you pay attention and do your job less chance of bad things happening. Compared to what your doing is like stepping up to oversized stuff, or hauling items that take much more thought process in securement so you don’t kill someone. All of it takes respect. Some just takes much skill and thought process.

    This is absolutely 100% correct, I agree whole heartedly. Enough can go wrong feeding concrete plants all day dumping on a pad or in a bin. You start going to new places constantly and try to judge the lay of the land, it’s a whole new ball game. The flattest spot is always under power lines, and don’t get me started about dumping in a landfill. :mad:

    Yo dudes and dudette! Just checking in before the Labor Day weekend. Been super busy and I’m not complaining at all. Asphalt rock and asphalt sand are the name of the game this week. I have noticed new trucks have been arriving at Peterbilt. Rumor is Peterbilt is gonna stop making this model so I think they trying to gobble them up. Or they are just now rolling in from past orders when everything was back logged. Dunno. Here’s pics of the newest additions. Safe travels and have a good holiday weekend!

    Nice looking rides, we’re getting in new sleepers as well, slowly. Nothing new and exciting though, the exact same anthems so far, only difference is that they’re 2023’s.
