I do spec my trucks with auto shift but not for the economy reason’s, I like the convenience and ease of wear and tear on my left knee due to damage from a rookie mistake while hauling cattle. -
Once you're up to speed the top ratio is the same. Only place you'd really see an economy gain is in stop & go.
Once you get into oversize or higher weights fuel economy goes out the window anyways so who cares? -
