Marten transport. 3 months paychecks back to back

They used to charge .02 for per diem, but they got rid of it last year.

 

Not trolling you. When I worked for them they paid 0 miles for trailer hunt. Or moves in the same city. That was my biggest reason for leaving. I was on the restaurant depot dedicated account. What I said about the recruiter being with another company these days was to point that even she felt Marten wasn't the company she knew previously, evidently.

 

What you're doing to help the new drivers is a good thing. I was there for 5 years and it takes a year to learn all the different rules for all the different pay. Such as if you want layover pay you have to ask for it. They don't tell you that. I think many people don't stick it out for a year and quit.
One complaint I have about them is that their pay is too complicated. That's one thing I appreciated when I worked for H & M Trucking. Straightforward pay.
I will say that I've never had to work so hard for the pay I rightfully earned. If you get a good fleet manager your ok, but some of them act like it's their money and don't want to pay it. You need a PO for everything.

 

I'm an owner operator now. I work for a flatbed/dryvan/tanker/sand company out of Tyler Texas. I do flatbed and do all right so far i reckon. I suppose it is different being on dedicated with Marten. Ran nights, load in Houston to deliver to DFW area and deadhead back to Houston. Got in no later than Friday afternoon and would leave no earlier than Sunday evening. But my Sunday (my Monday to everyone else) I did a sprouts run from Wilmer, to Corpus.

 

It's funny because I was also on fleet 34. Another good thing about Marten is you can change fleet managers. Not all carriers allow it.

 

I know another company that did that. They paid an even prettier penny than they took. Why in the actual fitzgeralds world would anybody in their right mind think, "gee golly whiz, I pay them 2 cents per mile for them to process my pay with per diem, I'm making out like a bandit". I bet they did get rid of it, soon as someone blew the whistle on their butts.

 

The customer is paying Marten to transport their product at the temperature and operating mode specified on the BOL. Since you are representing them online, you might want to discontinue mentioning that you are not honoring that contract.
