Any of you fellas, or Mrs’ ever haul brewers grain? Ive been doing quite a bit of it lately and let me tell you it is some interesting stuff, I’m glad I have my tanker endorsement :). You have to be super mindful with it, it definitely moves around like a liquid load, and comes out about 100 MPH whether you’re ready or not, hold on and do a little bit of praying! Hope everyone has a good Labor Day weekend, be safe.

Well, I got my enclosed cab rack off, wet kit installed and I am having my fifth wheel blocked as we speak with a removable bar so I can still use the flatbed if I want or need to. I have a regular Merritt headache rack I can throw on there easily if I want to.

Still trailer hunting… that’s a tough choice because I have seen some really clapped out trailers selling for more than I’d pay. I’m not that afraid of an older trailer if it has been maintained and it is pretty easy to tell just by looking around a bit.

I have a couple brokers around here saying you don’t need a spread and a couple guys saying yes you do. Lolol. I don’t see a lot of spreads. Just going back to flatbed and something @blairandgretchen told me when I started there is do be able to do things others can not.

Hence my 53’ flat vs a standard 48’ flat. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen people post they’ve never or only lost a couple loads by not having a 53’ flat… I can’t tell you how much money I have gotten by having a 53’. You won’t find them without looking but when you look and have that trailer that can do it you have an advantage.

So still looking for 39’ - 40’ aluminum spread without breaking the bank.

I was just talking to a dump buddy of mine this morning about how it would be absolutely impossible for me to fit in to the door swinger crowd, if I don’t have a dispatch ten minutes after being empty I’m livid :). Me and the freight world would never get along.

I know man when I took my little hiatus from end dumping, I’d be in a door for 30 minutes and about to come unglued. When I started out trucking years ago I did reefer and I’d think nothing of bein docked up for 3, 4 , 5 hours. Not no mo’!

Sounds like things are comin along nicely! I’ve heard equipment prices are starting to ease, hopefully that’s true and you can find a trailer for a reasonable price soon.

There’s a place down here by the house, a startup wood pellet mill. Long story short they bought, I think almost 20 brand new 40 foot Mac frame trailers, electric tarps, absolutely beautiful trailers, and all of them are sitting for sale now, with no loads ever being hauled. From what I gather, because I definitely stopped in and talked to them about them for the company I work for, is they bought all of them under the impression they were what they needed for their customer base only to find out they needed live bottoms, and now they’re stuck with them. They can be yours for a cool 80K a piece.
