I am a retired nurse obtaining my CDL and hope to break into flatbed trucking in the Michigan/Great Lakes area and do not want to work on Sundays. Is it realistic not to work Sundays as a flatbedder? Thanks.

Yes indeed. Most of our work is Monday through Friday delivery during regular working hours(mine was anyway) Some runs do require you to leave Sunday to deliver. Run at night deliver in the morning. It all depends who you go to work for. You have to gain some experience and then line things up from there.
Flat Earth Trucker, Bean Jr., Puppage and 2 others Thank this. -

Find work at a manufacturer, or a place like Alro Steel.

I've run flatbed for close to 5 years. Most companies for loading and unloading are open from 8 to 3 Monday to Friday. Job site deliveries may differ but rarely will you ever be requested to deliver on a Saturday and never on a Sunday. Yes, you may need to drive on the weekend to make a Monday morning delivery but if you work your route and your schedule correctly you should be off on Sunday.
