Yep. The photo used on the license to carry is the same as DL in Tejas. Just a black and white version of the color DL.

Thanks for everybody's input on the matter. The update is that I explained it to Melton recruiter this morning, and we agreed to push orientation back a week so I can "hopefully" get the physical CDL in the mail. I'm thinking that I should definitely get it in that timeframe, but it still is messed up that the horrific state of New Jersey has no solution for removing your ability to prove who you are by doing this.
Thanks again!Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
If you have a passport you can use that instead of license. There's other processes, but none are a guaranteed.
runitaro, tscottme, Bizzarrogeorge and 2 others Thank this. -
“ Not for real ID purposes” is clearly printed on any CDL that the person named on it didn’t upgrade to a Real ID and pay them extra money in the process.tscottme and Bizzarrogeorge Thank this. -
This really won’t help the OP now…For the future….. when I get a new driver license, I go online (NC) and get a duplicate copy of my license. It’s 13 or 14 bucks I think. They send it in the mail. I keep one in my truck at all times and one in my wallet. It’s not ‘more than one license’ it’s a duplicate of the same one. If I lose the wallet copy or some shipper/receiver forgets to give back etc, I have one in the truck still…
If I have to turn one in to DMV, I’ll still have a copy of the old one…till I get the new one in the mail….tscottme, Chieftains and Bizzarrogeorge Thank this. -

O
Not completely sure of the process in your state, but once your CDL status is completed in the system if you are able to go to the DMV you can usually get a duplicate issued on the spot. My understanding would be that with a duplicate you need not turn in any current license, so having your birth certificate, Signed stamped permit and at least one form of picture ID would allow you to obtain the duplicate in person.Bizzarrogeorge Thanks this. -
I think TN took my passenger car license when they gave me my paper CDL. TSA will accept a passport, you probably don't have one or you wouldn't have asked the question. I would Google what TSA needs to fly and see if you can bring those documents while you wait for the plastic CDL to show up.
