That’s one of the best part about hauling some of the stuff we haul. Lots of the time you’re delivering someone’s new $100k toy. They are generally happy to see you.

Did they say you could switch to the salary program after 90 days? In my opinion the 9900 mile salary program is the way to go. You’re paid 9900 miles every month. They even removed some of the requirements that they could use to take away the guarantied pay.
As for sitting, it’s not ideal but with the type of freight we haul, there’s not always a load 50 miles away. I does get on my nerves too. Luckily we don’t haul a lot of seasonal type flatbed freight so we don’t so down much in the winter.Ralph4159, Speed_Drums, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this. -

I’m somewhat picky with my freight, and I have chosen to stay connected to a step which is not always the best choice - that’s me and you’ll figure out you. I also focus exclusively on my weekly earnings, I could care less about dead heads so long as they help to maximize my weekly number. And since I take a heck of a lot more hometime than you I’m sure things will turn around for you.
As @kylefitzy said not having purely seasonal freight will make a difference, while I believe we will all be slower this winter vs last, you’d be surprised how much customer freight still moves in the winter.
Learning anything new takes time and some deep breath’s, and maybe after 90 days you’ll decide to change pay plans, after all you’re the king of being out so why not get paid for it! -

After 2200 miles, 6 days, lots of repositioning and an additional crane I got unloaded in Las Vegas. In two weeks I’ll head back and reload the same piece heading back to where I picked it up from.
