I know I haven’t been the perfect person
But I’m tryng to start a new career with my CDL…
So I ran the “court order” driving record on Illinois dmv , the Affected Driving Record Abstract. NOT the Public Driving record Abstract one…. Is that the one needed to obtain the CDL? The MVR?
Anyways, well… I have these on my driving record all in Illinois
for July of 2006 ZERO TOLERANCE SUSPENSION/FAIL OR REFUSE ALCOHOL/DRUG TEST SPEEDING 15-25 MPH ABOVE LIMIT
Then later that same year….December of 2006 OPERATING WHILE DRIVING PRIVILEGES WERE SUSPENDED
Then in 2007 I got into a mess… a huge mess. To make a long story short I pleaded guilty to a DUI after going to court almost 2 years. License revoked in 2009 Report says for 2009
FAIL OR REFUSE ALCOHOL/DRUG TEST
DUI/ALCOHOL CONCENTRATION ABOVE
OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE
I didn’t drive a vehicle for many many years. I finally got my Drivers License back in 2016
What are my chances to get a CDL. I been studying for almost a week and I just pulled up my Driving record online just now and almost threw up my breakfast. I feel terrible … I mean of course I knew I had a DUI and that ZT…. But hot dang man… just reading it … it hit hard. I know it was over ten years ago when I got that record but I been clean since. It just sucks killed my hopes right now.
There’s Nothing on my report after the Informal hearing in 2016 except some SR22 insurance suspensions for failed payments that never went through so it was reported in 2019 sr22 insurance suspended, eventually it says my SR22 insurance requirement was completed. Other than that…some duplicate issues of my Driver license i needed replaced because lost/stolen are on my report. Nothing else after my informal hearing when I got my DL in 2016.
What I’m saying is … is it possible to still obtain my CDL in Illinois after having all that nonsense in 2006-2009. The Zero tolerance , driving on suspended license and having my DL revoked for a DUI. I’m really bummed out. The past does catch up and haunt us, doesn’t it ? #### I feel like a total clown. I appreciate the feedback on this. Thank you all for reading. Have a great day and stay safe y’all.
Obtain my CDL with Driving record from 2006-2009

Yes, you can still get a cdl and a cdl job.
If Illinois won't let you, then get one in a different state.
~
Trucking companies have their own rules about DUI's etc.
Some say none within the last 5 yrs. or 3 yrs. or 10 yrs. or some maybe never.
Either way, get a cdl, then we'll help you find a job.

You’ll be fine. Maybe the upper echelon companies will look at you sideways, but if you’ve sorted your life out and it was over 12 years ago - I don’t think you’ll have much trouble.
Stay safe!High Stepper and Chinatown Thank this. -
Might have to attend a private cdl school.
Try this one though in Chicago.

Can't find it right now, but saw an ad recently in CDL LIFE Trucking Jobs for V3 Transportation in Chicago.
The ad showed you only need a CDL-A Permit or CDL-B Permit.

I would think that , those things being over 10 yrs old should've fell off your dmv report. Guess i could be wrong but i think i'd sure be a asking the drivers license examiner about it. Most companies only ask about accidents an tickets in the last 3 to 5 yrs for insurance purposes. Most have specific time frames regarding dui's or felonies.

Thank you all so much. I just got off the phone with the Secretary of State in Springfield,Illinois. The woman over the phone from the CDL department just told me since it was ten years ago I am more than ok to apply for my CDL. Omg oh my goodness you don’t know how happy I just got ! Made my whole day. My whole week my whole new beginnings with my idea of starting a new career and bettering my life so grateful and thankful and happy for all of you. Thank you so much !!
I can now continue to study for my CDL permit. Because I was … but then after realizing that my record might hold me back I became so depressed and bummed out I couldn’t even eat. I stopped studying and just stressed out all night and didn’t sleep.
I am now back on track studying diligently and looking forward to give it all my excellent effort and continue !!Chinatown and blairandgretchen Thank this.
