Plugged air filter? I've seen turbos glowing red because of it

Check your pyrometer head. Mine was out 200*. Even with a pyro reading way off you still have too much heat though. @wore out sent you the right way.

My guess will be a hot tune, by a sub-par tuner, driver who lugs it.

Why do people think cheap is good? And more fuel means turn it slower?

I have zero idea. But I guess its because the penny pincher fleets tell you to run low rpm.

Melting a hole in a turbine housing isn't from a turbo failure, its a result of a failure.

Yep, cracked turbo is a symptom. Is it tuned, and how much boost will it pull?

If you're truely hitting 1500°F post-turbo, I'd be very amazed if you haven't caused internal damage. Its going to be even hotter in the manifold and inside the cylinder. I recall some Series 60's used aluminum piston skirts and aluminum melts at just over 1200°F.

I've been to 49lbs of boost and never broke 1100 aft turbo. Short term testing. This guy has a monster tune, boost leak or exhaust restriction.

Because a vast number of people only think they know the dynamics of a diesel motor.. they have no concept of the result of what happens when you lug a motor down and lower RPMs.. But they're saving fuel .. that's the secret to success..Or so they think
