Hi I'm looking for the best route from Laredo to Houston. I've heard that taking 35 and then I10 heading east is faster but less scenic than heading through route 59. Which is better?

There’s a back road as you come up 35, it’s a small highway and it takes you out into the country. Very nice ride. It is a bit slower but the distance is shorter by like 30 miles….and you go through a few small towns but it’s very relaxing. I forget the road but you’ll see it there on the map.

    Probably 59.
    Good, decent road.
Careful where you plan to park.
Some good spots on the north side and the south side.
    Kinda slim in the middle

59 all the way up to downtown Houston. Turns into 69 just as you enter Houston. Nice drive until you get to Houston. Couple great small mom and pop truck stops, a place that sells crazy good jerky on that route.

Yeah, another vote for 59. I don’t go Houston-Laredo that often anymore. Usually, if I get to Houston, I call that home and deadhead south to valley. And if I find myself taking a load to Laredo, I punch myself in the face until I forget where I am.

But while 35 to I-10 is all interstate, they’ve been doing a lot of construction leaving San Antonio out I-10 making that the headache route. But I haven’t been that way in a while.

Just be careful in Refugio county and the speed trap town of Woodsboro. 55 for that one b.s. mile means 55. From sign to sign better be 55. Almost got arrested there back in 1998, put in handcuffs because I wouldn’t sign a ticket for 56.
