Lol living that close to Coon Rapids would get you home regularly, if you like the freight type and don’t mind the governed speed, then you would probably like them.

What about the pay? How’s people weekly settlement looking? I want to work there because I read all these good things about it but I haven’t read anything about weekly pay. Can anyone throw me an average?

As far as the governed speed is concerned, that's not a big problem for me. I got my start in OTR working for Roehl Transport for three and a half years. Back then, their trucks were governed at 59 mph on cruise control. If you wanted to go any faster, you could hold the pedal down to the metal and that would get you up to their "terminal velocity" of 61 mph.
Finally, as far as freight is concerned, the reefer life isn't my preference, but as with any job, you have to take the bad with the good. One nice thing to be said about hauling refrigerated freight is that our country really needs it right now with the sad state of our supply chain, so pulling a Magnum trailer is helping out a lot of people. (Props to all of the Magnum drivers out there who are currently doing that!)Winnyf1 Thanks this. -
That's a hard question to answer, first it depends on the Experience you have as a driver. If you're a rookie with no experience you start off at. 47 cent with a increase every two months for a yr ending at. 58 cents. Then increases every yr after that, maxing out at 5 yrs. Also your checks with not be the same every week because it depends on the mileage you do. Magnum is a Midwest company but have loads going down south all the time. They also use other load boards to keep you moving. Your home time will need to be placed 10 days advance so dispatch can start looking for a loads for you, to send you home. -

I don't know what the pay for trainee's looks like because I hired on as an experienced driver, but I can say for sure once you get your first year of experience in you can make really good money at magnum.
Magnum is a a very good training company, and still a pretty decent option for experienced drivers. -

I've gotten so much great information from you guys in this thread that I thought I should try and give a little back in return.
I used to live in Coon Rapids, about 5 minutes away from your terminal there. If you are ever in town and are looking for a good pizza, check out a place called Chanticlear Pizza (address: 2835 Northdale Blvd. in Coon Rapids). Their pizza is pretty good, and on Monday nights, they have a deal where any pizza you order is 50% off the normal price. On Tuesday nights, Chanticlear has a special on their fried chicken, which I haven't tried (because I like their pizza so much), but I have a good friend who raves about it and gets it quite often. They give you 4 pieces and 2 sides for about $10.00.
If you are in the mood for Chinese food, they have a fairly decent place right off of Main Street called the Mandarin Buffet (Address: 3390 124th Avenue, Coon Rapids). I haven't been in there for a few years, but they had a pretty good sized buffet and the food was pretty good.
Another option for Chinese that I recommend is called the Rose Garden (Address: 2500 Coon Rapids Blvd., Coon Rapids). They moved recently, so I haven't been to their new location. Their old place was very tiny, and was more for just a takeout. They did have a lunch buffet there, but it was nowhere near as good as the Mandarin Buffet. The Rose Garden does have good takeout, though, and their "House Egg Rolls" are the best egg rolls I've ever eaten. The Rose Garden is well worth trying just for those darn egg rolls. LOL.
Anyway, that's it for now. I hope this info helps you find a good meal some night if you are looking for something to eat.
