Imagine making payments on $200,000 truck, $70,000 trailer, giving up 25% to a carrier and hauling for the rates we're seeing now.

I’m in CT now delivering in the am. Luckily it was $10.5k to me on 500 d/h to load and 1450 loaded miles.

Because - I rarely come up here and the outbound rates are bleak.

$4/mile on LS board is $3/mile to truck - and that’s my minimum. 500 mile radius from here to 500 mile radius to Joplin, MO - 2 loads in the last 2 days that were gone VERY quickly.

I imagine I’ll bounce home 1400 miles to be home Saturday, rather than slugging the weekend for cheap to be in another dead area empty on Monday.

Like said before, I price ‘these’ areas round trip.

Yes $2.75 all miles is pretty poor, but $5k after tax pays the bills for a month, for 6 days work.

I’ll agree - things aren’t looking too peachy right now.

We should all take a month or 2 off together. Meet in the keys for some fishing and beer. Let the chaffe bid themselves into bankruptcy and the brokers pull out all their hair because they cant then get loads delivered.
    Then go back to work.

You should see the profits on loads out of Florida. 1.35 a mile to the truck, brokers must be at $3 a mile.

Guilty of the same logic and bills lol. If I want something nice I have to work a second week.

Florida has always been bad. Even during the boom.

Sorry I don't believe that for a second.

Carriers have been dropping like flys last few months, there is certain areas where the volume is back to being very high right now yet the rates are still lack luster.

The market is being manipulated by shippers/brokers. Remember they've been shoving this doom and gloom news down our throats for months now. Who's best interest is it in to spread this "knowledge"?

Anybody that thinks this is just a simple demand/supply game is sorely mistaken. They have the freight, the have the data, they have the leverage. The game is rigged in their favor.

I now understand why old school truckers are so against having to download these tracking apps on their phones...

It's best not to play the game by their rules at all. One will surely lose unless they smash the board into pieces and make their own way.

Florida is profitable for those who know how to run it.
    Hugely profitable?
    No
