I keep hearing all this doom and gloom about the economy but let me tell you its far from it from what i see. Im on vacation at the beach and these places are hoping with people. I needed a tire replaced and couldnt find anyone to do it today or they said come back later in the day and they might have time they were so busy. I see all the new vehicles and the toys going down the road. I think the only ones hurting are the lower income people like me. They are still selling houses as fast as they can build them and they are extremely over priced. I couldnt even begin to pay for a $400,000 house but yet thats what i see starting prices are. Something is wonky about this “recession”.
Cheap freight rates, what are you doing?

“Guy must be doing well - nice house/vehicles etc”
Then 2008-9 rolled around.
“Oh - all on credit, I understand now”
Think of all the ‘free’ pandemic money the last couple of years. Not all used it ‘responsibly’.

That ‘agent’ is out of Burbank, CA. Except they’re not. The muppet will be in the Balkans or the Middle East.
They ‘had’ a 9’4” wide load going to 30 miles from the house out of Ohio.
For $3/mile . $2.25/mile to the truck if you’re a BCO. Before $200 in permits.
I’ll drive right past it and haul my load of broker brains , sitting on both hands to stop me from clapping and waving at them as I go by.
They have no idea what the freight is, and are a stain on the LS system.
My advice (though I know it’s not an option on load boards that don’t post prices) - set your minimum at $4/mile and $2,000 minimum, and if nothing shows up -
Find a better way.lynchy, Czar_Zero, exhausted379 and 8 others Thank this. -
Here's the proof
By definition we are in a recession
I could post a lot of other proof too but that's Simple enough.runningman0661 and Big Road Skateboard Thank this. -
You provide a service. You let your customers know your rate. You don’t let the customer assign your rate. You are the service provider. If you can’t get that you are doomed! My rates don’t change. Take it or leave it. It has worked well for me. Stability for my customers and myself. You’d be surprised, some brokers love it. Less drama and they can focus on what to do when they get off work. Ever wonder why I don’t come on here and cry? I try not to make things hard on myself and focus on service vs volume of half aassd work. Reassessment of your operation may be needed. Hit the office, sharpen the pencil, plan to out perform your peers, and assist your customers in their goals!
