From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for not showing more proof. Carry on.

So when I bid on a rate and I get the electronic message "Your bid is too high, try a lower bid" that's not price fixing?

No. That’s similar to when you call a shop and find out how much a set of drives cost and then call other shops to get prices before committing to buy a set.

Price fixing is much more organized and coordinated. I used to be in towing and we all pretty much charged the same rate. It's not like all the companies sat down and agreed to it. It's just how the market is in that area. Sure, each company charges a different rate per mile or hour and they all have different hook up fees etc etc but in the end you're bill will be pretty close no matter who you use.

One thing I will mention though is that the government themselves fixes prices on their own. They literally dictate how much towing companies are allowed to charge for their services. How's THAT for price fixing? Anyone playing by their rules is going to lose. They're not set in your favor.

TMC is also on my DNH list. They have it spelled out in their Agreement that they don't have to pay the Carrier if their customer doesn't pay them. They're dirtbags.

From what I see it appears most people prefer to poop in a sack and toss it out in the parking lot.

Trucking has always been the canary in the coal mine. When trucking goes in the pooper, the economy and other businesses aren’t far behind.

True. I can see what's coming in the economy before most people do from just watching the loadboards and following spot freight volume/rates.

Speaking of flatbed only: I’m seeing loads posted at bad rates and they are sitting. I’m currently headed into Salt Lake. Loads that are posted at below $2 a mile have been there all day. Loads posted closer to $2.5 are gone before I can call. I’ve resolved to not take these easy cheap loads and let the people that do it go bankrupt by December. We all know guys overpaid for equipment the last 8 months and now they’re desperate. It won’t take long for them to go away. I’ll deadhead a thousand miles before I allow some shipper to load my truck for Pennies a mile. I also have a direct customer at home that emails a load list daily. Normally the loads pay pretty good. The last couple of days he’s posted loads at below $2.7-2.8 a mile depending on the lane. Those loads are not moving. So the idea that all loads are moving cheap is not accurate. I plan on taking it to the house if it gets any worse out here. After the election maybe we will see things get back to some normalcy. You reefer haulers better not be hauling cheap. You guys are in high demand right now and anyone that says otherwise is a moron. Price yourself accordingly……
