If Tampa and St Petersburg get a direct hit, it'll be the first time for a strong storm to hit them in over a hundred years.
We live in Polk County, the next county to the east of Tampa. We've been hit several times since 2004. Three in 6 weeks in 2004 and Irma about 5 years ago.
Hoping this one doesn't come in on us again. I'm on the road for this one.Flat Earth Trucker and MartinFromBC Thank this. -
I’m ready
Thought I preplanned but evidently no better than driving
Got most everything but forgot pickles and extra mix but I do have a full bar in case I run out of Bloody Mary’s
I did bring my truck home just in case I need the onboard power etc

It's up to a very strong cat4 now with 155 mph winds. Could even reach cat5 before landfall.
Taking virtually the same path as Charley. Straight at my Polk County again.
At least we have Sheriff Grady Judd who'll greenlight shooting looters.
We've already had a very wet summer. We've got standing water already with just the outer bands. It's going to be a mess.Flat Earth Trucker, Blue jeans, Feedman and 1 other person Thank this. -

That whole area has really grown up since I was a kid. A lot of the places we used to go camping, fishing, spelunking, people done moved in and built a bunch of houses. Not much you can do anymore without paying for the privilege.
