Well thats how its SUPPOSED to work. Reality is that, that is far from the truth for many many O/Os.

And as long as some idiot is willing to haul it for just a little less than you, the rates will won't come up. The moment they can't find anyone to haul it, the price goes up. It has to be moved, after all.

There is a formula for calculating the FSC . In government contracts the purchaser of the fuel must receive 100% of the FSC . Other than that the carriers and brokers give the O/O what they feel like giving him .

The purpose of the FSC is to offset the price of fuel . There is no justification for a broker or carrier using O/O's to get any part of it .
Some carriers , especially expediters give some shippers discounted FSC's rather than lower rates . This is totally unfair to the contractors . -
obama said ,in the state of the union address,( we will move forward to more off shore drilling!!!! what he didnt say is where lol(lieing bast---) the off shore drilling will be in brazil,with the oil already being sold to china????? so exsplain where that helps the u.s. with money or oil,,,,,,its all going to our future home land (CHINA) they already own most of the united states now,,,,guess instead of spanish we should be learning chinnees lol

Fuel Surcharges should be mandated and forwarded to the truck owners based upon the DOE average. I am sick and dang tired of getting a quote on a rate of $1.10 including F/S. These are the words I usually hear right before I hear myself telling them to piss off.....I can't wait for the tipping point, paybacks gonna be a booger.....

The other problem with the FSC is that in most cases it is only paid on loaded miles , not deadhead .
