If Tampa and St Petersburg get a direct hit, it'll be the first time for a strong storm to hit them in over a hundred years.

We live in Polk County, the next county to the east of Tampa. We've been hit several times since 2004. Three in 6 weeks in 2004 and Irma about 5 years ago.

Hoping this one doesn't come in on us again. I'm on the road for this one.

    I’m ready
Thought I preplanned but evidently no better than driving
Got most everything but forgot pickles and extra mix but I do have a full bar in case I run out of Bloody Mary’s

I did bring my truck home just in case I need the onboard power etc

I was in Citrus County back then... my memory tells me it was 2005, but it was probably 2004 when we were hit by FIVE storms, 2 of which found their eye coming over our house. I remember coming outside during the eye of Charlie to tear my neighbor's carport the rest of the way down and strap it to the anchors so it wouldn't become a missile heading toward our place when the winds switched directions about 20 minutes later. It was eerily calm in the eye...

Where at in Citrus County? That's where I grew up, Homosassa Springs. I got family all over the west coast from St. Pete to Carrabelle, but mom and them still in the same spot.

    MartinFromBC Thanks this.

I was living in the land of the newlywed and nearly dead, Beverly Hills. I was working out of the now-defunct Inverness office, but my assigned territory was from Lecanto to the coast; Crystal River, Homosassa (+Springs), Beverly Hills, Citrus Springs... and I would definitely poach from Inglis and Ocala's territories (Dunnellon, et. al). LOL

It's up to a very strong cat4 now with 155 mph winds. Could even reach cat5 before landfall.

Taking virtually the same path as Charley. Straight at my Polk County again.

At least we have Sheriff Grady Judd who'll greenlight shooting looters.

We've already had a very wet summer. We've got standing water already with just the outer bands. It's going to be a mess.

Yeah set up as a probate lawyer or a geriatric psychiatrist and hang a shingle in Beverly Hills, a man could make make a fortune.

That whole area has really grown up since I was a kid. A lot of the places we used to go camping, fishing, spelunking, people done moved in and built a bunch of houses. Not much you can do anymore without paying for the privilege.
