That is a valid point.
Our home and yard suffered significant damage last year from a storm, my wife was a mess. All she could see was the home she loved, decorated, and cared for, destroyed.
It was hell for her, and she shed many a tear.
Broke my heart seeing her so upset.

Another thing is take lots and lots of pictures. Particularly pictures of damage BEFORE you cover up or clean up.
Do not expect insurance adjusters to believe you without proper evidence. Having proper evidence greatly reduces the prospect of contentious claims and settlements.
I know this all sounds like common sense but in these situations it's very easy to not be methodical.Blue jeans, Sirscrapntruckalot, truckerman75103 and 7 others Thank this. -

Back in 2005 when I lived in Indiana we had a lot of people who had evacuated from NOLA when Katrina devastated the city. Many of them never returned because when the levees failed the flooding all but destroyed their homes outright, leaving some people with literally nothing but the clothes on their back! The psychological toll was beyond comprehension!Blue jeans, MartinFromBC, Siinman and 2 others Thank this. -

I knew a guy who recently passed away that had the best saying for a bad situation.
"If ya don't laugh about it, you'll cry about it"
That has been stuck in my head ever since, and has helped keep a more positive outlook on life.Blue jeans, Siinman, InTooDeep and 2 others Thank this. -
I hope all you west coasters are okay. Over on my side of the state we just got rain and some gusty winds. Drove down on Wednesday from Lake city and didn't hit bad weather until Ocala and it picked up pretty good with the rain and wind gust up near the Orlando area.I can only imagine the wind gust you had close to the coast.
