Why is it sometimes impossible to shut the trailer doors on sloped ground?

Why won't the doors close? Well, obviously something is in a bind. Why does that matter? Because the doors are square, and now the back of the trailer isn't.
To us, it's as obvious as breathing. No, it's more automatic than that. It's like our beating heart. We don't have to think about it literally on the same level as manually using your brain to cause your heart to beat.
You're asking for an ELI5 explanation, when a six-month old fetus already knows the answer. In fact, I just asked a five year old why the doors wouldn't close, and he slapped me.Last edited: Oct 2, 2022
