Best way to ship a Semi Truck to the West Coast

    I have a buyer for a T680 that will need to go to the west coast. It’s a full 76 inch sleeper. I still have to do all of the measurements but I’m assuming it would have to go on an RGN? Would it clear bridge height?

    I’m thinking it’ll be cheaper to ship it, then drive it and pay for fuel, wages, expenses, flight, lost revenue, etc.

    Does anyone have experience doing this or having it done? Any insight appreciated.

    Definitely not gonna be cheaper to ship it.
    When I brought my truck from AZ to MI, I flew there with a license plate, temporary ifta and signs. Booked a power only load and came home with some extra money in my pocket

    my rgn is 22inches from ground to top of the deck.. so add that to total height of tractor and that gives you total height... if its full sleeper its gonna be 15ft tall or so.. . need overheight permits, which obviously increase the cost to move...I have hauled some flattops and dump trucks and have no problem but they are 11ft or less... I do see loads posted on the boards for semis being moved all the time... let me know if you need some help moving it, ill be out in the midwest for the next couple weeks

    Drive it to the buyer and flat tow a vehicle behind it to drive yourself home with. I drag my pickup behind my tractor regularly. I refuse to fly anywhere.

    It’s not me buying a truck, it’s me selling a truck. Just to clarify. The buyer wants it included in the deal.

    For me to deliver it 2200 miles away means losing revenue by taking one of my drivers off his normal truck, plus fuel, wages, etc etc. one thing I hadn’t thought about is grabbing a one way power only though. Would need to remove decals once completed.

    Remove decals beforehand and use a temp sign to get there. The PO might be good if the scheduling works out. Every time I've ever looked into it, it wasn't worth the extra aggravation. Why don't you make the run yourself instead of taking a driver off his lane?

    It’s going to be cheaper to drive it. Even if you have to pay a driver to drive it out and fly back.

    Up until rather recently, I would have said it would be cheaper to get a power only load and have personnel drive it/fly a driver back

    last couple of weeks, brokers been putting up a lot of rgn loads for under a dollar a mile... something to consider.
