Loaded yesterday morning and asked the 2 fork drivers to load to rear. They said sure then proceeded to start at the front. I figured it’s only 42k should be fine. Strapped and tarped it then 12 miles to the scale. Over on the drives. It’s not 42k it’s 47k! Called the broker and told him I was on my way back to the shipper to rework the load and I needed another $400 because he doesn’t know the difference between 42k and 47k. He said he would see what he would do. Rework the load and get it strapped down but I don’t tarp. Finally get ahold of him and he asked if I got it tarped and ready to go. He was able to get $300. I’m sorry but the load isn’t tarped because it’s coming off. I was more than fair at $400 and it wasn’t a negotiation. He asked me if I was really going to unload over $100. I asked him if he was going to let me. Less than 5 minutes had the new rate-con. I’m going to love this gig! EEB5EC06-9375-4C10-A904-1CA4A4F030C3.jpeg

Good for you. I had a must tarp, which of course fit inside my sidekit, which was down. I told the guy to load it with at least a foot so I could swing the j hook in the rail. This is how they loaded it! 42360.jpeg

I asked the guy why he put it like that he said "you didn't tell me". I told them to unload it now! Our agent called me 'what's going on? I told him they didn't listen to me how I wanted it loaded, and then said it was my fault! They corrected it and apologized.

Just wait till you have to mess around with tarps when it's 0 degrees, 20 mph winds, snowing and there's ice on your deck.

Let us know if you still love it.

That's why I am right there on deck giving them directions as they load so it goes right where I want it.

Well this guy is brand new to the business. and to me he sounds like more of a business man then 90% of the ######## out there... hes unwilling to bend over for bull ####, and because of that, I don't doubt his abilities to do great work in below optimal conditions. as good businessmen tend to do

OP, I'm thrilled to see you're handling your business like...a business! The industry needs more carriers like yourself. These brokers get away with the things they do because too many fools have their own numbers and don't know what they're doing. Godspeed, my friend.
