Because it's his birthday. You shouldn't have to buy guns on your birthday!!

Other than that, I have no idea.

    Ummmm, you said straw purchase.....

J/K. Took my son to Wanamachers Tulsa Arms Show when he was 8. Among too many other purchases, we included a 7.62x39 AR parts kit, and a DPMS lower.

I showed him how to build it. He hunted with it till he was 12 and bought a 308.

I said gift, not straw purchase.

And that's cool about the 7.62 AR build. What was his best take with it?

When a carrier prohibits firearms in their trucks they are making the rules for other people's property, specifically, other people's firearms. Same with facilities that prohibit firearms without providing a place for safekeeping while the driver is on the property.

These rules have the effect of denying people their RKBA for the purpose of self-defense while in transit, which is exactly why parking lot laws were enacted.

I have no answers, only observations. I am not attributing blame or fame.

New Zealand has a strong recreational shooting fraternity, but virtually no massacres. This must be cultural, not just luck. Its biggest massacre was done by an Australian. A white sepremvist type who perhaps if gave a minute to consider anthers life besides their own, should have addressed their metal health issues. In Australia we too have little gun violence and few massacres. Yes we have drugs, youth crime, growing mental illness, harder to get by on an average wage, and a growing gap from the haves and have nots. We did have a national gun buy back after our biggest massacre in 1996 killing 35 people. I don't think anyone viewed this as the ultimate solution as criminals still have guns, however overall it did take huge volumes of guns out of community. Stricter licensing, types of guns, numbers of guns, and how and where they are stored we all part of it also.

I don't care about the nitty gritty, but when I hear of another mass shooting in America has gone down breaks my heart. I have children, brothers, parents, grand parents, nephews, cousins, and fiends. To have any on them have their life cut short because someone is having bad day, and easy assess to a gun, just kills me. (no pun). The knock on effect through families, community, generations, national psyche must have a more negative then positive effect. Even if you are pro guns it must start to not make sense if truly honest with yourself. Just think of your closest....gone. Or if the once in life time scenario finally went down would you actually go out there guns blazing in the name of self defence?

To live in a street, or community, knowing most of my neighbours may have a gun rattles me. I don't think I could relax and there would always be an undercurrent of stress and concern. All I've got to compare is I was born into and lived in the city for 47 years. I accepted it as how life was. I moved to the country some 4 years ago and discovered how life should be. I can't help wonder if America has a similar thinking around guns and the second amendment. Change takes bravery, but rarely is it for the lessor in my experiences.

I have no faith, but I have married into a family who have. Puttying god aside, the following, or rather lack of following the 10 or perhaps 7 commandments is where society has let itself down. They are not for others to follow but for everyone. Don't think anyone likes being on the receiving end of them. Also think the saying it takes a village to raise a child is very accurate I think. Role models should not only exist in the home from parents. We live in a world that critiques rather than cradles.

Its been mentioned computers and gaming are our youngest's downfall. I am not sure. It certainly is how my son socialises in 2022, but he also plays basket ball, is popular at school, good at school, and polite to others. (mostly). Parenting is not easy, part time, or a tick and flick in the journey of life. Rather it the most challenging and responsible gig a humans can do, with rewards that match the effort. I wonder with the wests obsession with money, the nuclear family, and now the "I" thinking is a collective failing of the extended family. Just to be open I moved to the country to be near my wife's parents as they moved into their 80s. I brought mine along also. We all live close but not in each others pockets, it has been very good for all. More family, togetherness, openness, and less "I" has been a good thing for the soul, and happiness.

Lastly, more women in politics. Lots of them. Generally women see family, children, relationships, community, completely different to the competitive nature of males. Personally I'd rather live in a world that values people more than money, competition, power, and weapons. I think women would play a very good role in achieving that. Males have run the show for how long? Perhaps its time for a change. That's my 10c of a realistic approach, well to how I see it.
