When you have a good portion of truck drivers that don’t want a truck stop anywhere near them, it’s harder to blame the civilians for not wanting it either.

Been trucking for decades, and wouldn't want a loves built in my neighborhood either.
Yank the Tank, jason6541, Tall Mike and 1 other person Thank this. -
I wouldn't be opposed to one in my town, my actual backyard would be a problem though. Where it's being proposed does seem like kind of a bad location.
MartinFromBC Thanks this. -
Even the long time trucker in attendance doesn’t want a truck stop lol .. it sounds like in the area they are ok with but not at the entrance to the subdivision which makes sense.. besides jake shift johnny with his straight pipes is pretty annoying at 3 am
MartinFromBC, jason6541 and Tall Mike Thank this. -
Magoo1968 and MartinFromBC Thank this.

I was at a truck stop in Hearst Ontario I was sitting up front having a smoke . I saw a guy get out of his truck and throw two full gallon piss jugs between the drives of a fancy Pete . Unfortunately for him the driver did too when he returned from breakfast he went ballistic because the Pete driver grabbed the jugs and was going to pour them on his steps but tried the door it was unlocked so he dumped them out in the cab.. man I laughed all day every time I thought about it ..
Judge and MartinFromBC Thank this. -

After 20 years in this industry, it would be a hard NO!
Sorry folks, but i don’t want the litter, human waste, noise, lost idiots following their gps, morons who park anywhere they wish (including directly in front of a no parking sign), smells, crime, congestion, or road rage.
I would be at every town meeting to fight this. -

As an industry, we as truck drivers have allowed this sad reputation to embarrass us. I remember back in the 60s and 70s we were looked upon with respect and honor. People felt that we were "knights of the road" and could be counted on for safety, courtesy and if we stopped at a restaurant the food was good. Today with HOS, the so-called shortage of drivers and the attitude of many drivers we have sunk to an undesirable profession in the eyes of the general public. When the wife and I travel we still look for truck stops to fuel and eat if they have a sit down restaurant. A lot are not that great a place because of the attitudes and habits of today's drivers.
If we allow some drivers to throw jugs of pee, trash and relieving themselves in the parking lot to continue there will be no decent truck stops left to go to. I to would not want a truck stop next to my house just because of these lazy, dirty and unwelcome people from our profession. Not everyone driving today is in this category but if you are clean up your act and if you see someone trashing a place report it.drvrtech77, 48Packard, kemosabi49 and 1 other person Thank this.
