Carriers, ships, railroads, and airlines…etc. those would be antitrust “competitors”
Besides, we’re stabilizing rates, not price fixing.
How are Brokers NOT to blame?

And for argument’s sake, let’s say we did manage to “standardize” a minimum rate that no carrier would pull for, good luck to the lawyer that would have to present all the historical market data and show exactly when, where, and how much we manipulated the market.

Look at it this way.
last week I was on a load board and 5 offers on a load all within $50-$100 of each other. An offer comes in at $1000 less than all others willing to haul it for.
ya this industry is bound to crash.
Now you tell me if the 5 should find that one guy and make him lick the excess grease off our grease points.Siinman Thanks this. -

Shipper tells broker what he will pay or broker quotes a rate to shipper they except. Broker has to get his profit out of that. So you haggle.
A little sage advice never play a game you don’t understand the rules to. Thinking you can learn as you go.Sirscrapntruckalot, Midwest Trucker, Siinman and 6 others Thank this. -
We had a standardized rate so to speak. Set by the rail road commission. Well that didn’t suite anyone either they didn’t hand out authorities like Christmas candy. So come deregulation then m’fers found a whole new subject to ##### about.
The first thing I was told by a man that started in 62 was do not talk about rates, where your going or who your pulling for. Our business is ours keep it that wayrollin coal, Midwest Trucker, Siinman and 10 others Thank this. -

There's a lot of difference between being attacked and being disagreed with. A lot of people disagree with you but I see no personal attacks. You're being told your idea won't work, not personally attacked.
You should be able to tell the difference.
You have an idea that you think will improve things. Most people who responded disagreed with you. That included a lot of experienced and well informed truckers who would gladly back an idea that they thought would make things better.
If I thought your idea had any merit I'd be agreeing with you.
It's a bad idea and you getting upset because people won't change their minds about it doesn't make it any better.JimmyTwoTimes, Sirscrapntruckalot, rollin coal and 3 others Thank this. -

Why would I pay you for nothing.
I'm lending you my jeeps, trailers, boosters, and $8/mile power only, and you have to drive a measly 280 miles a day is all.
Hand you the offer on a silver platter, and still you don't want It.
Screw that $3/mile stuff, i wouldn't walk out to my truck for 3 bucks, much less start it.Sirscrapntruckalot, Siinman and God prefers Diesels Thank this.
