Is US 212 in Montana a good truck Route?

US-212 is a good alternative to i90. I’ve been through there many many times through every season I can see changes on traffic scenery and generally how nice the trip it is through. Also, it cuts 50 miles to the trip had you taken 90 through Wyoming and it’s mostly deserted, however.
Here are the problems.
1. Expect traffic in the summer, it may seem like very open road but don’t try passing vehicles unless you can see a mile or so ahead.
2. Night/Day fog. If it gets foggy slow down, at times you won’t see a thing.
3. Deer. Watch out for these, bears too! They will be out here. I hit a deer just outside Broadus once, steel guard was convenient.
4. Snow. Unlike the interstate, back roads won’t get treated as quick or as often. Watch for sudden spots of wind whipped snow especially at night on the hill tops.
5. Middle of nowhere. This might be your biggest issue.
I rarely had phone service through here. The only rest stops along the way are the MT Weight station near Broadus (scales open most of the time) some park in inside that city as well as a Sinclair in Alzada MT.
Have your tanks mostly full for this 200+ mile run.
At night open roads but deer, during the day no deer but maybe some traffic. I ran 70mph through here. Hope this helps.
