Not your fault at all...
Had it happen one time... dock supervisor went off on me because they had 5 workers in the trailer sweeping it out at the time....(btw he's the one that gave my the bol and said "i was good to go")... I dragged him in to the safety office and reamed them both out....
Went back about 6 weeks later and guess what.... new dock locks and lights
Dock incident, was told good to go but a guy was still in trailer

If a worker gets hurt in your trailer there could be a claim against your general liability.. Good idea to have a policy if you don’t have one.
He said, she said ain’t going to mean anything in the end.JoeyJunk, Another Canadian driver, Capacity and 1 other person Thank this. -
I had the same exact thing happen at that warehouse I mentioned earlier. Was handed paperwork and the fork truck driver put "one last rack" on my trailer as I was pulling out. Luckily he didn't fall off, but his fork truck was hanging halfway off the dock.
His excuse was I forgot that I handed you the paperwork.
And we are talking less than 3 minutes from him handing me the paperwork to me pulling out.
As for a court case, you would probably lose, but that has more to do with the general public hates truck drivers than any real liability.JoeyJunk, Another Canadian driver, okiedokie and 1 other person Thank this. -
Your truck probably has cameras , maybe its time to buy one like the cops wear so you don't get a call from the Heavy Hitters.

So he gives you the paperwork, says you're good to go, then climbs back into the trailer? Sounds like he screwed up. I wouldn't take any heat for his stupidity.
