The training most get these days is terrible. And yes, many with bad driving habits in cars drive the trucks the same way.
But it's sure not just the rookies that drive stupid. I said something to a guy about his tailgating me. He got mad and said he had been driving for 30 years. Told him that just because someone does something for years doesn't mean that they were ever any good at it. Probably should have kept my mouth shut but it was on I 30 and there wasn't another vehicle within a quarter mile and he just stayed on my DOT bumper.

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

I’ve never seen anyone get a ticket for following too close unless they rear ended the vehicle in front of them .

30 years of driving with the same bad habits. Like I said earlier, you can have driven for 30 years but you don't have 30 years experience as a professional driver because you were never a professional driver from the start.

I have often stated that I would like to observe trainee’s for a month driving thier cars before even deciding if I want them in a truck. Yes they try to bring those bad habits with them and what is worse is the inability of most instructors to figure out how to inspire them to work at changing those habits. This is not even taking into consideration those who listen, hear and understand what you said but the hole time they are thinking to themselves I’ll do it his way till I get my license then go back to my way for what ever reason.

When I get someone in a conversation that claims the experiance I like to ask them questions that they should know before even getting a regular license. It’s actually comical some of the answers they give but they most often don’t know the actual answer.

I've been driving for awhile. I used to street race, you know, back in the fonzy days. I've had high performance cars and would take them out where there were lots of curves on the back roads.

Rode motorcycles for years and same thing, I know how to ride. But as soon as I'm behind the wheel everything changes. I'm totally the opposite and I know how to separate the two behaviors. I see trucks speeding through truck stops, taking curves as if they're in a sports cars. Trucks come up behind me and ride my ### before using the passing lane which was clear all along.

Webster: ": not exhibiting a courteous, conscientious, or generally businesslike manner in the workplace.

    In this case, downright dangerous.

The main reason you're being rejected from the hiring process is the three months experience. 9 out of 10 truckers will agree a new driver needs to exhibit one year of 'nose clean' driving experience before venturing out to look for other driving jobs. So in other words you have two strikes, little experience and a ticket already. Gonna have to take a second chance company and keep your nose clean for the next year.

Saw a guy get pulled over for doing that just a few months ago. Driving on a two lane road at night in iowa the guy in front of me was tailing real close to the guy in front of him. Then a guy from behind me guns past me and starts tailing the guy in front of me. I am thinking it is probably a cop so I slow down a bit and about 30 seconds later he turns on his lights and pulls the guy over.
