China's covid vaccine doesn't work, so Xi is still imposing lock downs all over China.

They're still lying about oil. Remember ""We can't drill our way out of the oil shortage" from just a few years ago?

The article doesn't mention anything about a chip shortage.. Just that Ford can't meet production for whatever excuse they come up with...

you can't just say to just manufacture chips here in America.. We produce maybe 10% or less of the global supply of semiconductors with the plants here running at near 100% capacity.... The majority comes from overseas in Asia.. Intel is building 4 more plants in America, 2 of them in my home state of Arizona but they are a long long way from being completed... taiwan semiconductor is also building a plant here...but all of this was more a reaction to the shortage in the last couple years vs being proactive and thinking about the future... so by the time they come online it won't really make much of a difference

Or they could just keep driving the vehicles they already have …..

Unless one gets destroyed in an accident , there is no reason they can’t run the vehicles they have a little longer .

you know , the way us normal people have to do when we can’t get a vehicle or can’t afford a new vehicle .

Problem is up in Maine (and a few other northeastern states) is that as those vehicles rack up the miles they’re also at a higher risk of corrosion from the environment they operate in(salt air and salt used to treat the roads during the winter). Most of the northeastern states,if not all of them have annual vehicle safety inspections and part of that is inspecting the body/frame of the vehicle. If the corrosion is bad enough then the vehicle has to be retired. And fleet vehicles see a lot more severe service than your typical passenger vehicle. Also, they use more electronics (laptops,radar/laser speed detection/license plate readers, lights) so that puts added load on the electrical systems.

Darn, that would really suck if they had to give up radars and lasers, wouldn't it?

I bought a '23 Buick Envision a while back. Been waiting over two months for a heated seat module and a windshield. The latter being a little more imperative because the 1 inch rock chip is right in the middle of the driver's view. I'm about ready to let the dealer have the car back.

The revenue collection officers, uh, I mean police departments, in southern states sell thousands of used exploders every year .

Contact them before they strip out all the lights and cages and stuff when it’s sent to the auction.

Or just take better care of the cars you have so they don’t rust out so soon.

“fluid film” and a couple of other products actually do help slow down the rust caused by salting the roads .

i got my new car, back in January of this year....

sucks to be anyone waiting for a chip...
