Anyone else seeing a slow down at their company

I'd say a O/o $1000/day is a good way to gauge how much is needed to operate. As I'm changing carriers now I can't understand how companies like TransX are only paying $1.24/cpm or anything less than $1.50 cpm? Alot of these Carriers are offering strange rate packages for fuel incentives that just becomes confusing mathematical tricks to scam the Owner Operators. If a driver is earning $0.55 cpm then it should be a 3 time minimum rate for the O/o ($1.65 cpm) etc. Especially with diesel rates going so high I saw last week in Nova Scotia's being $3.07/litre which is ridiculous. A fuel cap for the O/o at a 70% discount or more should be right across the board.

 

We're not headed for the big R (recession), we're headed for another Great Depression!!!

Thanks to Bank of Canada (and others worldwide) money policies, the economy is likely going to come to a crashing halt in 2023 - I'd guess the second quarter is when it will hit.

All the small carriers, the fly-by-nighters, and the Driver Inc carriers are going to take a huge beating - which, with the exception of the small carriers, I don't mind at all. Companies have to leave the cheap freight on the dock, and soon cheap freight will be staying there because there won't be any cheap rate takers to carry it....

 

It is indeed starting to get as they say, “real“ out there and we are finally starting to see the true effects of the recession that’s just now starting. Not at the company I currently work for but another I am friends with the guy who handles the accounts. Midsize company. Told me they average 820 loads a week out of their yard and last week they did 490. The three week average has decreased to 560. And dropping. So yes drivers are getting less and less miles and dispatch struggling to try to keep everybody pacified and evened out. And just think the worst is yet to come. I’m not going political but what amazes me most? Is this past Tuesday we just assured ourselves at least 2 to 4 more years of this nonsense. It would seem to me the powers that be have a vendetta against the trucking industry. Plan accordingly my friends

 

I'd say that's absolutely horrible, as mentioned above, I make $850 to 900 a day as a company driver!

Alberta, literally the easiest trucking job I've ever had too. But boss just filled the last truck yesterday.

No need to move, boss provides housing for the out of town drivers as well. Let me clarify a bit.

850-900 is an avg for just the winter months, work is avail everyday except holidays, sometimes we haul a bit shorter runs and make around 700, n the odd time I have made 1050 at the very most, we don't work the spring, and the summer haul is a shorter round trip making 600 a day with weekends off.
