Appreciate it mate. There are four or five doors open for me. But I definitely did not want it to end this soon.

Sorry man. I hope you find something too. I hate to hear see another driver get laid off and especially before holidays.

how many got laidoff at your Barn out of curiosity? We lost at least 10 dock workers but no drivers yet, but everyone is wondering if more are coming or if it was a one shot deal.

Sorry about your layoff, I spent 7 months laid off when I went to Buster Brown 20 years ago and the uncertainty of when I was going back to work was what sucked the most. I started in freight 35 years ago and took several detours to get where I am today in Carhaul. Not sure if there are any Union Carhaul companies near you, but the industry is slammed and needs help currently. Once you learn how to haul cars even at most non union outfits, you may not want to go back to freight. Worst case scenario you try hauling cars until your freight job comes back. Experienced carhaulers with good companies earn $2,000-$3,000 a week and many of us came from freight. Good luck!
Walmart is another place you could probably get in fairly quick. I am not much on sleeping in a truck but I have several friends who went there and are closer to $150,000 than they are $100,000. Could be another temp job for you, if you really want to stay in freight.

Nothing like getting held on the dock on a Saturday morning because they didn’t want to pay dock workers OT so they sent them all home.

I'm sorry to see this. I got a very similar letter in February/March 2009. It was uncertain, it was anxious, it felt like the sky was falling...but I wouldn't change a thing. To be away from YRC's nonsense AND working for a great company is something I hope you soon join me in.

Good thing about being slow is I called in and got a CC day for tonight approved so I’ll be able to have a normal Thanksgiving and not be all tired and still get paid for Thursday and Friday. Have Happy Thanksgiving!
