What's funny is that they think they know what we want, but never ask.
As far as I'm concerned, they can ram their TV, just pay me.
I'm 62, and you're a day or so ahead of me. But it's so frustrating when all you want to do is go to work and all they want to do is go home.

Money continued. Ok, so I told you cents per mile. I'm company van. Reefer division gets a little more.
There's a quarterly safety bonus if you make x amount of miles that quarter. Plus an annual bonus of some kind. I won't be eligible for either bonus this time because I started in November.
Benefits are kind of measly, and I don't need health insurance cuz Medicare.
They threw a smart TV in the truck which is nice and there was something about wifi and Sirius radio thrown in.
The orientation was so hurried and chaotic I didn't have time to take notes or even ask many questions. In fact, the other attendees were real Jerks about my asking questions and I got a ration from a couple of them. I figured I'd wait until I was back at the terminal in okc and track down the nice recruiter guy and get the details one on one.
Now for the ugly. And I do mean ugly. They pay 12 days behind. Which means, pay earned through Friday isn't received until a week and a half on Wednesday. So, I started Nov 1 1st paycheck Nov 16. And it will be half a week because they don't pay anything for orientation. They did hand us each a hundred dollar bill at the end with great ceremony. So we could eat for the next 2 weeks I guess. No sign on bonus.
Also, when you quit, they do not direct deposit final pay but mail a paper check, after deducting any damages or whatever. General consensus is you won't get paid anything on that final check so just figure that into your budget.
Last but not least. If you break something. Like hit a curb and kill a tire or gouge a fender you get to pay for it!!
If I hadn't screwed around trying to find a job the last few months I probably would have changed my mind on this one too, but I'm in so much financial trouble now I'm trapped. They do that on purpose too I think.
So on a personal note, to top it all off I have spent hours waiting at various truck stops getting their trailers repaired and now my lovely new cascadia is running rough and pulling a code and loves says it has to go to freightliner.
There is only so much bad luck in the world, and I managed to get it all this month.

All the reviews I read were from lease operators. I know personally a driver who stayed with them 4 1/2 years. It wasn't perfect, but he made a good living. He said he only got grief when he deserved it.

I've had a run of bad luck, which apparently hasn't totally abated. I spent today at Premier freightliner getting sensors replaced on my tractor. Just kill me now and get it over with.

I wanted to apply to jrayl. It sounds great. But I've been job hopping too much. Their requirement is no more than 3 jobs in I think 5 years. My 3 month split from tni counts as 3 jobs even though tni was 2 of them. Part of my strategy was to hang in with WFX long enough to reduce my stupid debt and let my job hopping fall off the radar.

Try to stay positive. Remember it's not all bad. Didn't you say it's more of a regional gig or out 14 days and back for 4 or something like that? And you get to run the lanes that you want so no going to the Northern parts of the US and dealing with all of that. They are paying you $0.60 CPM for doing dry van work, that is a respectable wage in my opinion.

I mean look you could have gone back and forth and done "what if's" in regards to choosing other companies but the thing is, you made what you thought was the best decision avaliable to you at the time. Didn't you say one company was offering you "maybe" $0.50 - $0.52 CPM? Come on, you can't drive on such little CPM when you're an experienced driver. Again, you made the best decision on what was avaliable to you at the time. Let's see how this plays out. Yes, the negatives of this company are pretty bad (and kind of hilarious if I'm being honest, hence the Vince McMahon meme lol). But again this company does have a lot of the things you were looking for too.

One thing you can do is only look at the things that are affecting you right now in the present moment. Orientation sucked, but it's done with. If you can survive financially until your paychecks start rolling in 12 days later, then for now you should be fine. Be extra vigilant (I know you already are) about not hitting stuff. Whenever you quit then you need to quit when you come off hometime, so that if they do try to screw you out of your last check then your last check won't be big anyways. Hopefully you'll just get your last check like normal.

And even if it doesn't work out with this company (honestly I would maybe keep your eyes out for other opportunities lol), remember that you've been through way worse and that you are going to get through this.

I wouldn't really consider 3 jobs in 5 years job hopping.
Maybe if companies didn't treat drivers like #### they wouldn't have a problem keeping good ones.

Very true ! I was considered a job hopper when I arrived at my present company almost 6 years ago .
