How much is to much for metal shaving ? Pictures attached . Clutch bell housing

What make and model truck are we talking about?
Hydraulic clutches adjust for free play but the pressure plate has to be adjusted for wear
on the clutch brake disc. Volvo uses an air assisted clutch on some of their trucks. I ran
into one with a hard clutch pedal, it had no air to the slave cylinder. The air was supplied
by a pressure protection valve which had failed. replacing it solved the hard pedal problem.
An air valve can intermittently stick and be a problem.

 

I ran into a Volvo with a hydraulic clutch that was not air assisted. It was at a traffic light and the driver could not push the clutch in order to shift into gear, neither could I.
Asked if he could drive a 1 ton Dodge with a 5 speed. Yes. If I leave this place follow me and I started it in low gear, truck, trailer and load.
The master cylinder was bad. Could not mash the pedal with the line to slave cylinder loose.

 

A clutch job imo is one of those jobs thats worth paying someone else to do it even if you have a shop. Even with a trucks that easy to work on like a 379 Pete it's still a dirty heavy job with lots of things that can go sideways. At the very least I would get a helper/mechanic if l was doing it at home the first few times.
