I may be old-school, but that’s somewhat of a stretch. If we all went by the worst case scenario, and what could happen to us if we did something ,nothing would ever get done.
I witnessed a crash and just kept going. Should I have stopped?

Safety officer told us about a case he was involved in. Snow & ice on interstate in Arizona or Wyoming, don't remember which. Truck jack knifed and blocked interstate. Line of trucks started building up for 3 miles or so. A drunk Army officer slammed into a truck. Wasn't killed, but brain damage. Lawyers on the scene seemingly out of nowhere. they photograped the Army officers wreck, then videoed all the trucks stopped on the interstate in front of the wreck. All the trucking companies trucks in front of the car wreck were sued and all had to pay millions. All the millions went to the Army officers parents. The jury was not allowed to know the Army officer had full military benefits and medical care for life because he was under orders and on his way to his next command.
Videos shown to the jury, showed the Army officer in his parents house, wearing diapers and playing with baby toys. Take a toy away from him and he would scream and cry and bang his head on the floor.Last edited: Nov 22, 2022

I offered a trucking company info to an accident I witnessed, once. Court hearings, lawyers, cops my time/money. I see nothing...unless it's a injury.

the cops can make the assessment as to who is at fault, and who knows, there may have been traffic cameras there anyway's.Another Canadian driver, JoeyJunk and TheLoadOut Thank this. -
A few years ago I had a drunk swerve into the side of my trailer as he was beating up on his girlfriend. A nice lady stopped and gave the cops the account of what happened. Nobody was sued. In fact, I gave her a gift card for being a decent human being for what she did.

Received a copy of the report for a fatality. Early morning rush and a Toyota Echo strikes the L S edge of a NEMF parked on the shoulder and rebounds out into traffic in front of our unit. Despite our guy moving from the center lane to the center shoulder up against the jersey barrier, the toyota ends up under our bumper.
Due to the visible baby seat, EMS has our tractor lifted to check for an infant. It was empty but makes it look like the lady was, perhaps, rushing from daycare to work.
The in house lawyer starts going thru the witness statements including the nurse and paramedic who jumped out of their cars to help the lady and the motorist they recruit to hold her head until a cervical collar comes with responding emergency services then the gets to the statement of the NEMF driver who had pulled over on the right shoulder to 'review his directions'.
At that point he hands it all back to me saying 'not our fault' and walked away...
There is a reason the compare lawyers to sharks...If you were involved, stop; otherwise keep driving.Another Canadian driver, JoeyJunk and LilRedRidingHood Thank this. -
