Hopefully it will put the spot market back to decent for awhile. If they would shut down for a week we would have a back log of shipments for awhile I think. Been hoping for it for awhile.

Imagine if truckers united together for once and stopped hauling cheap freight

Imagine if not everyone in the trucking industry hauls spot market freight. Maybe the guys that do should all band together and protest and not care what the whole rest of the industry is doing.

No. the strike will be averted "at the last minute" and some swamp creatures will take credit getting some positive press in a cycle or two. Even if the strike does happen there's a lot of trucks out here ready to roll.

About every rail car contains 3.5 truck loads of material
(“Oh there’ll be so much work!”)
The railroad moves that product at rates that trucks can’t touch
(“But people will need their stuff!”)
The railroad moves products that people aren’t in a hurry for, they’re chosen based on being substantially cheaper than any other mode of transport
(“But they’ll be LOTS of work!”)

Petty much lol. Unless the railroads are down for the next few months it wont matter. Anything on a rail is either A low priority and you can wait a few weeks or even months for. Or B so cheap the only way to justify moving it is by the dozen railcar.

There will be some exceptions sure but those will at best be 1 load in 50 or so and most of those are likely to be bulk material for dumptrucks, there wont be enough volume falling through to carriers to make much of a dent and hell these guys are going to be SO used to how cheap it is to move i wouldnt be suprised id they put loads up for just above cost if fuel and dropped rates more.

I'd say the Mississippi going dry would have a bigger impact on truck volume than a rail strike. Those sea cans have to get down the river, if the water can't move them then they have to move on trucks. I have seen a lot of decked chassis moving lately, so perhaps that's a more likely scenario.

We need to get back to the old days of it being a brotherhood. A family if you will. All for one, and one for all. None of this selfish, all-about-me, and all I care about is me bs.
