Let’s test you split sleeper skills…

The split sleeper math gives me a headache. If I take 2 hours off duty and work the rest of my day, I go in the sleeper for 8 hours. If my clock has more than 5 hours on it I'm hammer down, if not I sit there for 2 more hours and reset

 

I'm not volunteering to split my sleep to let some poor planning office dweller get away with a mistake.

 

#1 : 10 I think.

#2 : You’re in violation if you go off duty and not sleeper to complete the split sleeper

Scenario #1: 10 available on your 11 hr clock.

 

To be specific on scenario 2.
Assuming plenty of time in the 70.
Monday is the first day.
Monday the driver would be in violation as there wasn't a 7 hour in the sleeper, so there is no split. Two hours in the second, three hour drive, a 14 hour violation will happen. Tuesday after the 12 hour off duty the driver is fine with a full 14/11 clock.

 

#1: The whole first part of that lazy driver's log is irrelevant. All you have to worry about is your hours since the first of the 2 qualifying breaks. Split breaks are easy once you grasp that.

So as pointed out, 10/13 available.

 

#1: 10 hrs driving and maybe 13 hours on duty, if attached to another qualifying break, since the two plus hours are not longer counted in the 14 hour rule.

#2: you have 11 hrs driving and 14 hrs on duty, due to resetting the clock with a 10+ hour consecutive break. In the old days you would have had a 14 hour rule violation with only a five hour sleeper break. Now you allowed to combine a minimum of two hours with a 10 hour break, and the five hours do not count toward the 14 hour rule, since they were attached to a 10 hour break. It is also not a 14 hour rule violation, if you can attach minimum of two hours to a qualifying break and be legal in the future even though your technically over the 14 hour rule at the time your log is checked.
