More proof that it's about revenue not safety.

I see nothing wrong with that. Just holding drivers and carriers accountable.

Maybe other professions should also be held accountable with monetary fines, starting with the DOT officers and others that write the tickets. Certainly they have rules and regulations governing their employment that can be assessed with fines for non-compliance.

Most of the violations are from nit picky things that have f-all to do with safely operating a commercial vehicle. Second why would the driver receive a fine for how the eld is configured? Most likely the a driver has nothing to do with how an eld is installed, configured or even have a choice on which device is to be used yet can receive a fine and csa points. Again nothing to do with safety.

“If an offender receives a ticket, they will be able to plead guilty and pay the fine without needing to appear in court. This will help ease pressures on our courts and make our systems more efficient and cost-effective.”
All about paying the fine. Nothing about this will improve safety.

They are trying to build the narrative that if you fight something in court, you creating the problems in the system. There is nothing wrong with having one's day in court in a free society.

If they want to improve efficiency of the courts they should start issuing $1000 fines to officers that don't show up to court when they are supposed to and force reman after reman hoping you will jut give up. Because they can't back up thier ticket.

Exactly. If the goal were to improve safety the approach would be completely different. A point based system with warnings and non-monetary, but operating consequences for exceeding certain thresholds would achieve rule compliance. Drivers and companies would have incentives to adhere to rules with adequate knowledge of where they stand and how they need to improve to continue driving and or in stay business. Realistic incentives. Real results.

Adhoc fines equal income. The goal becomes increasing income from truckers and truckers treat it as part of doing business. Nothing changes with regard to safety. The income equals job security, raises and benefits, and fancy facilities for those collecting them. They become quotas.

    Don’t they already do that?
I mean log violations are ticketed.

It’s never been about safety, but control and revenue.
But you can drive a car/rv until
you fall over in the seat.
