Check the DMV locations in surrounding areas. The dmv site only shows a few closest to you. I’ve always been able to get a same week appointment at the one in Paris, Tx, just an hour or so northeast of DFW.

I just applied to raider express and I'm researching Steven transport, I might apply there as well and see who has the earliest school opening. Thanks Chinatown and everyone for chiming in... If all else fails I'll just wait for kllm in mid January. Or try to get my permit on my own and go to the better companies that require permit in hand

THE BAD NEWS: Trying to start CDL school/training/employment during November & December usually blows--big time!!!
THE GOOD NEWS: Texas is a GREAT state for trucking! LOTS of good opportunities in your area. Basically--you almost can't lose.
