Here’s How Car Thieves Use SiriusXM Remote Start to Swipe Your Car

i have a new corolla, that came with sirius radio free for 90 days. i didn't renew it.

i also do not pay for remote starting systems...ever.

my key fob has the immobilizer embedded in it. with the key of course.

all these gadgets and gizmos people want to make thier life easier...????

those things just drive up the cost of the car, and mechanics today are basically "parts changers", as i'd highly doubt anyone of them can diagnose a problem today. not even the diagnostic port, under the dash is spot on each and every time..

I have Sirius XM in my car, but my car is a manual transmission (and a Hyundai at that). But it also has a immobilizer.

 

A manual transmission IS an immobilizer for 99.9 % of thieves .

for my older cars I have a hidden button to start it .

on most older cars the ignition switch has a “crank” wire and a “run” wire and a “crank & run” wire .

Just take the “crank and run “ wire and run it through a hidden push button switch, so you have to turn the key to run the starter and press the hidden button to activate the ignition coil while the starter is running .

ir you can just take the wire that activates the starter relay and run it through a hidden push button ,

in my cars you could be sitting in the passenger seat or standing beside the drivers door with the door open and you’d never see me hit the button .

a friend of mine had his car stolen three times , apparently for joyrides since it was always found a few days later .
He changed the starter wire from the ignition switch to the windshield squirter switch . And it never got stolen again.

there’s a couple more that can be used , a GM TBI used an oil pressure switch to run the fuel pump , you can use that pressure switch with a hidden push button over ride , bypassing the oil pressure switch to startup , and once you cut it off and the oil pressure drops , you can run the starter all day but the fuel pump won’t work unless you hit the hidden button .
