September is finished and it was pretty slow as anticipated. Had the first two weeks off, and picked up towards the final two weeks. Some big chunk expenses this month including $7k for the insurance renewal, $4.5k in taxes and some personal expenses needing to replace our roof. Didn't have to take the insurance renewal as a chunk, but I'd been saving for that and wanted to do that for this upcoming renewal and things were still looking solid financially so I felt good to do that. Saved me a few hundred in interest by taking it as payments. Another nice decrease for insurance, went from around $11k last year to now $7k this year. October is starting off well and should be having several good months in a row now.

    Total miles: 6,381 (3,402 loaded)
    Total revenue: $18,553.06
    Loaded CPM: $5.45
    All-in CPM: $2.91
    Truckin’ Expenses: -$12,934
    Fuel: -$3,904
    Driver Pay: $-7,200
    Days worked: 10

    Maintenance:
    - Replaced the rear top left clearance light on the trailer and greased all the brakes.
    - Replaced a blown hydraulic line on the electric jack - leaked all over the trailer floor and make a mess. Fun.

    Oh, wait we do!!!
Joe found it. What a bright boy!

Only problem is if someone decides that they don't like us, then we got nothing to fall back on.
But that will probably never happen.

    So, we're good.......sorta

October in the books and it was as anticipated. Great full month and some much-needed revenue to recoup some of the slow summer months. Able to take care of the remainder of Q3 taxes, deal with some more maintenance, and get the reserve fund just about back to where it was before the slowdown. Looking forward to several more busy months ahead as the fall ends and winter sets in.

Avoided a roadside catastrophe luckily catching a blown trailer inner seal and got home to get it fixed. Needed new bearings, drum and shoe on that wheel. Just did the shoes this summer! Oh well, just happy it wasn't a worse situation. Also replaced my passenger fuel tank TWICE - the used one I bought at first was leaking after I got it filled with fuel the next day. What a fiasco.

Bought a lot of tools this month. Got everything needed to change my own tires, and was able to change four already! Checked over everything for winter, air dryer performing well with a spare cartridge in the truck if needed, and batteries testing strong.

    Total miles: 11,297 (6,851 Loaded)
    Total revenue: $37,067.49
    Loaded CPM: $5.41
    All-in CPM: $3.28
    Truckin’ Expenses: -$6,434.73
    Fuel: -$9,202.66
    Driver Pay: $-7,400
    Days worked: 20

    Maintenance...
    - Shop replaced blown trailer inner wheel seal, bearings and races, drum and shoe.
    - Swapped out my passenger fuel tank not once, but twice! I'm just about an expert now...
    - Service, filters, adjust brakes, grease, air filter
    - Fixed busted fender mount
    - Drilled / tapped new grille for winter front and bug screen
    - Tightened big loose mounting bolt / nut for my bumper and drilled out a busted bolt / replaced with new
    - Swapped out left steer tire in my driveway - left shoulder was worn out, I had a good quality used one from last steer swap with similar problem so it worked out
    - Swapped out three trailer tires where I park the trailer - two new ones and a used one

Great month of November, one of my best ever. Stayed out of the shop, worked every day but Thanksgiving day, and kept it between the ditches. Ran into some nasty snow just one of the days, otherwise the weather was cold but solid. December should be another strong month and so far weather is looking clear.

    Total miles: 9,639 (7,778 loaded)
    Total revenue: $43,768.93
    Loaded CPM: $5.63
    All-in CPM: $4.54
    Truckin’ Expenses: -$1,672.39
    Fuel: -$7,125.38
    Driver Pay: $-6,000
    Days worked: 21

    Maintenance...
    - Took off my exhaust 90* and cut out a hole and welded a new patch on
    - Fired up in the morning and all cab lights were out - found a broken ground and got that repaired
    - Adjust all brakes, filter change and grease
    - Replaced 3 drive axle drums - they were giving me a terrible wobble and locking up the wheels
    - Replaced a trailer tire with a used steer. 6/8 on the trailer are meaty, just have two left that are running low. Should get through winter.
    - Tandem connecting rod fell off the pin - had to replace washer and cotter pin
    - Busted my trailer cables sliding my tandems back so had to replace those - lost one the next day because I forgot to close the clip on one - lol.

Some more fun times working on the truck this week. Ended up replacing those 2 trailer tires now instead of waiting. Starter was giving me some clicking and I don’t know how old it was - at least almost 3 years - so decided to replace that before it was too late.

Some pics of doing the drums in my driveway and the exhaust elbow that was rusted through. Welded an ugly patch in place. Still working on welding skills lol. Holding up a couple months so far.

Better safe than sorry at a bad time. You are doing it right for sure if it has a chance of breaking it will in the worst of times.

I hear you. For the last year or so it would sometimes just give a dull click once or twice on a cold startup. The other day I had to try 10 times and got it to turn over. Then it was fine the next couple days but I already had the starter in hand just in case.
