You know you can avoid the hill in Elizabethville by going 147 to Millersburg, and then hitting 209? Much nicer, but a bit longer

We grew up and learned to drive on this stuff so it’s not an issue, watch a flatlander with no real hill experiance hit these hills and you will quickly see why they have a bad reputation. I agree 645 was also on one of my training runs. Basically my trainees got a real education not just drive down the interstate and drop your trailer at a yard 1/2 mile off the ramp.

FerrissWheel, cke, Nostalgic and 2 others Thank this.

Not the first - if signs are plastered all over,
(meh, but no one ever listens.)
If the low air alarm is on,
your imaginary "pronouns" won't help you.

I don't care how many cars are backed up
if I do not feel safe doing something.
Is it my imagination or is aggressive driving
now the rule, instead of the exception???

FerrissWheel, Old_n_gray and cke Thank this.

I live not far from there, and I know it happens a good bit. Doesn't change the fact that there are huge signs at the Halifax exit directing trucks to 147, as well as a sign at the base of the mountain, and yet the idiots proceed.

I know a guy that works in Harrisburg, he got behind two flatbeds heading north hauling lumber over the mountain. There's a passing zone, so he passed both trucks, gets up the road and just stops. Once the flatbeds got there they were stranded. Had to get a wrecker to yank them up the hill. Total dick move on my buddy's part, but whaddya do

I get that on the interstate with the Rollback,
I'm loaded in hammer lane doing mach 3,
and car I passed on the phone 2 miles back
finally snapped out of it and decides to drive.
"Big truck now IN MY WAY."
They pass on right and pull left - in front of me.
Then proceed to go slower than me?
The stupid is strong in them.

Is it a sense of entitlement,
or did I show you up with your lack
of driving skills on the mountains?
(My wife was from that area, did
a lot of driving on those hills.)

Amazes me how they don't get it,
how inertia is your friend, you fly down a hill,
and get shot back up the other side.

Or the cars that are on interstate behind 3 or 4
big trucks, and they slow down, in a bunch
behind them, no thought of 2/10 mi. before,
when you see the truck, and begin your pass??
So you have No concept of a flow, huh?

    FerrissWheel Thanks this.

An electric truck would drive up that hill no problem
