When is a load legally considered delivered?

when you have a signature on the bills it is then their freight

I agree with gearjammer. until that BOL is signed as delivered and as to the condition of freight then your job is not done. Once you arrive can you leave and go get the next load or go home? No, because the freight is not delivered until that BOL is signed.

 

When the freight is on the dock and the BOL is signed and you are released from the dock lock and the green light is blinkin. Being on the property does not release responsibility from the driver.

 

Perhaps try reading the fine print on the B.O.L. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back in the late 80's I had a load of pop cans going to the coca-cola plant in Twinsburg, Oh. I had spent all day getting loaded in Monticello, In. Was due in Twinsburg at 7:00 am. I was tired and had to pull over and sleep for awhile, ended up 2 hours late. they went nutso, was rude, and told me to park it, because I just might be there all day, so I laid down took a nap, 4 hours later I'm still sittin so I go into the office to see why they were holding me up so long. Was cursed at, and told to get out, they would unload me when they felt like it. So I left the property, the security gaurd tried to stop me, I told him get the f*** out the way or I'd run right through the gate. Went to Lodi, Oh. and called the company, they informed me that coke had called the Ohio state police, said I stole their load. I then called the state police myself, and was told that yes indeed they called the cops, but they informed them that it was NOT theft because they hadn't taken it off my truck, and had not signed for it yet. As long as that load is on your truck you are responsible for it.
