Just be advised - gay , straight , male , female this is not a career to enter looking to make money . There is a huge surplus of job applicants and carriers hiring trainees have no respect for drivers at all .
For an example of what one couple went through read through this thread . http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...d/96220-my-wife-i-finally-going-training.html
Also learn from the attitude shown in these posts and the responses it got . Start posting with a "We're smarter than the others nd the carrier won't do us that way " attitude and the response will be far from positive . RickG... I agree 100% with your post. My partner has a career and isn't interested in trucking, at least not now, who knows she may later. However, even if we were both interested in it, we would not of jumped in together. We would of invested money for one of us to go to school and get established and then if things were going well we old put the other through school and then go team.
I am glad that we do not just have to rely on my trucking income to cover bills and that if something happened we have our savings and my partners income until I get back on my feet. I am also glad that I was able to get on with a good company and things are going well for me.. and that many others are not as fortunate.
Also when post about making good money... if I don't clarify it, which I usually try to do, I mean that I feel I am making good money for being a rookie and for what I expected to make as a 1st year driver.
I would add that you shouldn't get into trucking if you can't afford for it to not work out and the worst case scenerio... by that I mean if you can't afford the thousands for school, not being paid for weeks or only enough to barely cover what it is costing you to eat and all on the road and needing to get home from anywhere across the country... If you can afford that without losing your home, then make the jump. That way if it works out well great, and if it doesn't you can get back up quickly. -
Lot of great comments.
Before this this turns into a discussion about Gay Rights or Personal/Religious Beliefs about Homosexuality. I want to say thank you and that I have a direction to go in.
Rick G - Special Thanks for the link. I still can't get the search to find that Thread but it was a fascinating read at the very least.
LavenderTrucker - Thanks again for all your insight and understanding of the question/concern.
I appreciate it all!FriedTater and simplyred1962 Thank this. -
JRYCSD Thanks this.

jtrnr1951 and simplyred1962 Thank this.

Exactly.
Have any of you ever known ANY trucking company that was accommodating to your sex life??
I was just checking.
The reason that those that swing the other way bring so much trouble on themselves is that they go out of their way to advertise it.
For example you don't see straight folks running around telling every one they are straight. Same goes for the non straights. Keep it to yourself and you'll have a lot less unwanted comments about it.
Or maybe the concept is too simple.lonewolf4ad, Native Dancer, SprkPlug62 and 3 others Thank this. -
As Rick G pointed out 3 letter words are "too short."
So again forgive the double post, however I did take the steps to try and search first.
Also I want to point out that my OP was not simply looking for "Gay Friendly" Companies although that seems to be the only thing people feel so inclined to post about. I was also asking about the different types of trucking? What type of trucking can a team not concerned with home time make the best money in? Where is a good place to begin after spending hours and hours of reading posts? Other advice?
If as much energy was put into posting valuable content as was put into expressing irritation or understanding of the "Gay" issue this thread would be 100x more helpful.
I came asking some questions that I felt were fair and that I could not find via search anywhere else on the form. All I wanted were some answers.
Any advice or insight on these other questions? -
I hope I didn't sound insulting when I said I didn't know about the gay friendly thing. I sure wasn't intending to be.
