If they are lying about rates that's bad... Most give a high figure then months in you're making .70/Mile or $25.00/Hr but getting layed over because they got to hook new hires...
I do remember when recruiters would lie to get you in to orientation, but that was years ago before they started doing what I described above...
FYI #1 there is no way to find out about layover(*what actually matters but you won't find discussed*) of a non-shift company... The only people who lie more than recruiters are other drivers, and not even just the ones with a referral bonus...
FYI #2 None of the mega carriers you're going to be told about are going to be different...Last edited: Jan 4, 2023
insipidtoast Thanks this. -
I don't understand the drivers that discourage new drivers by saying, find another occupation.
If they really mean that, then why don't they follow their own advice? They usually have some mealy-mouth excuse as to why their advice doesn't apply to themselves, but only to others.fishonron, austinmike, bryan21384 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I deliver fuel... I took my own advice...
I'll just leave this here...
"Home weekly for your 34"
"$.57-$.61 per mile"
When they are not sitting 12 hours waiting on a load or not doing their reset 400 miles from home maybe they can get on and let us know how Ozark worked out... See... I'm nice
Me delaying my ban here(for not lying to the public just for the sake of convenience and scatter-shot posturing): Ozark isn't just any ol' mega carrier... They got the big bucks just uh waiting for ya... -

Biggest thing to look for is if they're trying. Don't have to be perfect. Just try. That's all I ask.
When you see adds saying they have this bonus and that bonus and you can make all this money. In other words.... They're holding a carrot out in front of you. Then they argue about actually paying.bryan21384 Thanks this. -
If you want to make sure you’ll get paid what they say, look for companies that have a weekly guarantee. This way you know that’s your base pay. Usually to get the guarantee you can’t reject any loads, have to be available everyday, etc. but at least you know you’ll get paid what they said.

Switching companies isn’t that bad. I had three companies in the first six months.
1) (17 days) wanted me to falsify HOS logs during training.
2) (5 months) DM was a lunatic and company wouldn’t let me have a new one. The DM actually told me to stop calling… so I did. Then I get called in for not communicating. If you need me to read what’s submitted on the Qualcomm you aren’t worth my time.
3) current company and I’ve been here for 3 years. But alas they don’t respect my privacy and I need to take the truck in for a driver facing camera. I told them I want $35 an hour for them to watch me or I’m out. I’m a cheep lot lizard.
To summarize there are good jobs out there you just have to find them.austinmike Thanks this. -
