Yeah and guess where I’ll be at 4am tomorrow to start me day? Right in the middle of that! Third trip in a row I’ve ended up right smack in the middle of a Godzilla winter storm. I’ll only drive in so much of it, gets too bad and my rear parks.

I don't miss running from San Diego to Western PA during the winter... the only good news was that the loads were lead solder waste, good and heavy, and ironically, it's better to be heavy on snow & ice, unless you're on a steep grade. Truth be told, the most dangerous part of that regular run was when I hit the steep hills of PA on those skinny little two-lane blacktop roads with high crowns and heaps of ice... ugh. I wrote a story about one particular storm, you'll find it here in this link, and I'll be sure to post the wreck pics in my 'Crazy Trucking Daze' thread when I get around to it...

Ice is ice, and it doesn’t show any mercy. It doesn’t matter what your driving skill level is. I’ve had more winter driving experience in a four wheeler then probably most people out there. And I’ve learned to respect it. To the point that I will shut down if it starts calling my name. Lol live to fight another day. Superhero truck driving on ice is usually a short-lived career. The problem with a lot of these storms as you just don’t know how bad they’re gonna get until you’re in the middle of it. And also you’re relying on other people around you being semi sane. Which we all know of course they’re usually not.

Haha, I hear ya... and I would certainly shut down if things got bad, but sometimes a driver would run up on bad weather and bad road conditions in one specific area. I don't make any claims to be Super Trucker, though I've driven my share of miles behind the wheel of big trucks... and I've driven every major grade in the Lower 48 in winter conditions, so it ain't my first day out, lol. I would certainly urge today's younger drivers to go easy on snow & ice, as it IS unforgiving, particularly once ya break what little traction your tires have and ya start sliding, lol.

Welcome to my world drivers. I’ve been at home the past 3 days dealing with a winter wonderland!

Even with trees bending over,we’re still under a drought! The trees aren’t bending over because of the weight of the snow, they’re bending over because they’re DRIED OUT! The past three spring/summer seasons have yielded minimal rainfall to a point where the trees have weakened to the point where the branches are brittle!

I hadn't been paying attention, I left home this morning and get to Roanoke VA about 730 to load...
It took them until 1:10pm to check the transformer and do all that other stuff, so I finally get loaded.
2pm im putting my 8th chain on the load(Its high, heavy and wide). Broker calls and says they aren't gonna be able to receive the load in Ohio because of snow......:eek:
