I am based in Toronto ON, got my license in 2021 clean abstract and still looking for a job. I applied to most companies I know and they respond by saying they need atleast 1 year experience. Are there any companies hiring new drivers?

Sometimes Trimac will hire a brand new driver, and train him/her from the very beginning.

The following info assumes you have not yet contacted them--and may not even be aware of their existence.

IF.....you can get your foot in the door there--it's a great way to break into the industry.

Trimac has more than one location in the Toronto area.

Check out the Toronto-area locations from the following link, and inquire within, with the info provided. Try to talk to a terminal manager, if you can:

    Find a Location – Trimac

Trimac's on-line job board changes frequently--so if you don't see an opportunity there for someone who's brand new to the industry--don't be discouraged.

Be ready to discuss your the driving school you went to (address, phone numbers, dates), & the total hours of the course. Can you work a manual shift? Did you test out for your final exam on a manual shift?

Also--the more flexible you are with your availability on a job--the more likely you will get hired.

Examples: Can you stay out for more than a week at a time? If so--how much more? 2 weeks? 3 weeks? Even more?

Also: do you have the necessary endorsements/credentials to haul hazardous materials? Do you have the necessary credentials/endorsements to pull a tank trailer?

Address/think about the above--before you talk to anyone at Trimac. You'll make a much better first impression within Trimac, if you do.

    Tanker duty isn't for everyone.

Having said that--here in the States, the concensus seems to be that most drivers who switch over to tanker duty later wish they had done so, sooner.

    Just some food for thought.....

What trucking school did u go to most of the large carriers only hire from certain schools like Humber . You can’t just go to any fly by night school and expect to get a job I found that out the hard way back in 2008 . I had to do a refresher course at crossroads in barrie just to get hired by schneider. Are you currently driving if so you might just have to suck it up and wait a year . most companies want 1-2 years experience
